GALVESTON, Texas. On Sunday morning, US Coast Guard officials said they had found what they believe is the body of a missing kayaker.

Authorities said he left the area north of Jamaica Beach on Friday in a 12- to 14-foot white kayak. He was supposed to return around 4:00 pm. Around 9:30 pm that night, the Galveston Police Department notified the US Coast Guard that he had gone overboard.
On Sunday morning, authorities from the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office reported the discovery of a body that matched Baham’s description near West Bay.
“We are grateful for the support provided by other first responders, volunteers and community members who came to the rescue in the search,” the Coast Guard commander said. Michael P. Cortese said. “Our prayers are with loved ones as they go through this difficult time.”
After finding the body, the Coast Guard called off the search.
