WACO, TX (KXAN) — The No. 25 Texas Longhorns held Baylor scoreless for nearly half of the final quarter to run away with a 68-55 win in the Big 12 Women’s Conference Basketball Game Sunday at the Ferrell Center.
The Longhorns left Baylor scoreless in the final at 4:04 and 31% shooting in the game at 18 of 58. Baylor had 73 possessions in the game, two more than the Longhorns had with 71. Texas beat the Bears with 48–34 and blocked eight shots.

Five players for the Longhorns scored in double figures, four of whom were team-leading 13 points. Rory Harmon, Shaylie Gonzalez, DeJona Gaston and Sonia Morris each scored 13 points, while Gaston double-doubled with 11 rebounds. Taylor Jones scored 10 points on seven rebounds and three blocks before fouling in the 21st minute.
Texas threw 56% from the field in the second half after barely hitting 28% in the first half. The Longhorns landed 19 shots in the second half to just nine in the first.

For Baylor, Sarah Andrews scored a game-high 19 points on 5-of-16 shooting, while Ja’Mi Asberry scored 13 points. Caitlin Bickle grabbed 10 rebounds for the Bears.
For the first time since 2004, Baylor entered the game this week without placing in the top 25 of the Associated Press.
Texas (14-6, 5-2 Big 12 Conference) hosts Oklahoma on Wednesday. Baylor (13-6, 4-3) travels to Lubbock to take on Texas Tech on Saturday.
