The Texas men climbed to 7th in the AP poll ahead of the showdown with Iowa State.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Longhorns men’s basketball team enters the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday as the No. 7 team in the nation.

Texas is up three spots in the latest Associated Press Top 25 ranking released on Monday, and the kick will be immediately tested against No. 12 Iowa on the road Tuesday.

The Longhorns ended last week 2-0 with a pair of wins over the then number. 17 TCU and Texas Institute of Technology. Texas lost by double figures in both games but rallied to defeat the Horned Frogs 79-75 and the Red Raiders 72-70.

The top four teams in the poll – Houston, Kansas, Purdue and Alabama – remained the same as the previous week.
