Three people were shot and killed on the west side of Las Vegas Tuesday afternoon in what police said was a neighbor dispute.
Around 1:35 p.m., Las Vegas police responded to the shooting at the 900 block of Doolittle Avenue, near West Lake Mead and West Owens Avenue.
“When our officers arrived, they heard several shots, and during the investigation it was determined that the dispute between neighbors escalated into shooting when three adults were injured,” Captain Raul Rodriguez of the Metropolitan Police Department said at a briefing for reporters at the scene.
Rodriguez said all three of the wounded were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The neighboring school was closed.
“All of our children are safe and supervised,” Rodriguez said. “At around 4:00 pm, the school police began a coordinated phased release of these children.”
According to Rodriguez, there was no threat to the population, and all those involved in the shooting were detained and brought to justice.
“Currently, everyone involved in this is in custody,” Rodriguez said. “There is no major threat.”
