According to a report by San Antonio Express-News sportswriter Mike Finger, Popovich walked 82 blocks on Monday, Jan. 2, covering midtown Manhattan and the Upper East Side, making several stops to sample Italian, Turkish and Lebanese cuisine. Along the way, the NBA’s longest-serving head coach was stopped by TikTok star and self-proclaimed “NBA superfan” NeonManInAction.
You’ve probably seen a few of his videos online, usually a guy dressed in neon colors.
Well, interactions between the two set fire to comments on Twitter and TikTok on Monday and Tuesday, January 3rd. Fans, haters, and everyone in between had something to say about the awkward encounter, as Popovich didn’t look too happy about being stopped. during his expedition to New York.
The 10-second video, which has over 47,000 likes on TikTok, has received over 350 comments. One user in the comment section highlighted how NeonManInAction “waving the old man” in front of his kids, while another user noticed how a super fan asked for a photo just to avoid taking a picture.
Overall, the 10-second exchange turned out to be one of the funniest interactions between head coach Popovich and an NBA fan.
