Video shows teenage Katie running for help after being chased by a car

Susie Casino said her 13-year-old son noticed he was being followed on his way home, so he drove to his closest friend’s house and hid in the backyard.

KATHY, Texas. Katie’s family wants parents to educate their children about safety after it was revealed their 13-year-old son was followed by a car while riding his bike home. Part of the incident was caught on surveillance video.

“Oh my God, it was just scary,” said Susie Casino.

Early Sunday morning, her son Daniel Casino was cycling to a nearby restaurant with friends when he spotted what appeared to be a black Scion. It stood out because it was parked in three parking spaces.

After leaving with his friends, Daniel noticed the car again, this time parked outside the house where they were playing.

Then, as he was driving home alone, he said that the car began to follow him.

“I kept turning and realized that the car was moving slowly right behind me,” said Daniel. “I just thought I should go to my closest friend’s house and just stay there.”

In the video, Daniel pulls up to his friend’s house, which was closer than his own, and then runs to the front door. When no one answered, he went through the back gate to hide and call for help. Seconds later, the car was seen driving around the cul-de-sac and parking for a few seconds before pulling away.

“He was nervous and I just told him to stay there,” Casino told her son. “Don’t go, don’t ride your bike home. I’ll pick you up or dad will pick you up.”

The family filed a complaint with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, and then Casino shared the video on social media.

“I just wanted to make sure everyone knows. Every family knows about it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Daniel isn’t going to be cycling too far from home anytime soon.

“That’s what they look forward to on weekends – riding bikes, playing with friends, having freedom. And, unfortunately, because of this incident, all this must be stopped, ”Casino said.
