Hours before the San Antonio Spurs celebrate their 25th loss of the NBA season against the Brooklyn Nets, head coach Gregg Popovich is immersed in the Big Apple.

According to a report by Express-News sportswriter Mike Finger, Popovich walked 82 blocks on Monday, January 2, covering midtown Manhattan and the Upper East Side, making several stops to sample Italian, Turkish and Lebanese cuisine. Along the way, the NBA’s longest-serving head coach was stopped by TikTok star and self-proclaimed “NBA superfan” NeonManInAction.

You’ve probably seen a few of his videos online, usually a guy dressed in neon colors.

Well, the interaction between the two caused a flurry of comments on Twitter and TikTok on Monday and Tuesday, January 3rd. Fans, haters, and everyone in between had something to say about the awkward encounter, as Popovich didn’t look too happy about being stopped during his New York expedition.

The 10-second video, which has over 47,000 likes on TikTok, has received over 350 comments. One user in the comment section highlighted how NeonManInAction “waving the old man” in front of his kids, while another user noticed how a super fan asked for a photo just to avoid taking a picture.
