It might feel a little more like spring outside, but one local agency is looking for volunteers this week to help fill hundreds of boxes of supplies for at-risk seniors in Hunt County who could be affected by cold weather.
Senior Center Resources and Public Transportation (SCRPT) is raising food and cash donations for its emergency winter food crate.
Volunteers are needed to help fill boxes at the Greenville office starting Friday at 10:00 am.
Donations of saltine crackers, muesli bars and nutritious drinks are needed to help 300 seniors with emergency food items that will be available in the event of severe winter weather. Food boxes will also contain soups, canned meats, preserves, peanut butter, and crackers.
Those wishing to contribute are requested to drop off items at the main office in Greenville, 4912 Lee St.
Donations are also accepted.
Anyone who needs more information can contact the agency at 903-454-1444.
