This is one week that presents too many activities for me to even tell you about. That’s a good challenge, so let’s save some space and get into an event that pretty much takes over all of Fayetteville.

From Friday, January 27 to Sunday, January 29, Wizard Weekend will take place in Fayetteville. Wizards and Muggles will come together to celebrate a magical weekend when the entire city turns into a magical village. Most of the activities will take place outdoors and include walks around the city, so keep an eye on the weather and dress accordingly. There will be more self-guided activities this year where groups can explore locations and activities on their own, including a magical scavenger hunt around the city. There will be Laurel Creek falconry as well as Roy Moose presenting the West Virginia Serpent. Businesses across the city will also host magic-themed events for people of all ages. Numerous holiday events, themed sleepovers, magical tours and more await you!

On Sunday, January 29, Charlie McCoy Park will even host a Quidditch game in Fayetteville. The game starts at 2:30 p.m. on the baseball field. Remember that during the game the riders will need helmets, and if it is wet, then all participants will walk. Bring a broom and a dress in your favorite colors at home to cheer for your team at the Quidditch Cup.

On Saturday, January 28, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Creative Juices will host a Harry Potter drawing party at New River Yoga. For $35, you can wander in out of the cold and draw Ron, Harry, or Hermione on the flower pots. All materials are included and you can also pre-register.

Freefolk Brewery also celebrates Wizard Weekend. They will serve up the delicious Wizard Speed IPA, a bold IPA with a hoppy aroma, citrus flavor and juicy aroma. Chef Eric will do wonders in the kitchen, preparing dishes such as classic British fish and chips with mashed peas. (They swear it’s delicious.) Also on the menu is an English-style shepherd’s pie topped with creamy mashed potatoes. On Saturday, January 28, Chet Lowther will perform on stage in front of all wizards and Muggles.

304 Food Truck will be in town selling Harry Potter themed goodies. The Cathedral Café will be set up like a Great Hall with wands, color-changing mugs, butterbeer, butterbeer pancakes, and even photo shoots on Platform 9¾. Aurora Coffee & More will serve hot and cold butterbeer lattes, chocolate frogs, Polyjuice and more. Matt Deal will be playing at Chetty’s Pub in Lansing on Friday, January 27th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Chetty’s is a great one-stop place if you haven’t been there yet. I can’t say enough about the food, drinks, view or the amazing musicians they booked. Matt will pack his things, get them out of there and rush across the bridge to Charlie’s Pub right after this show. They host an open mic night at Charlie’s, where Matt is going to try his hand at stand-up comedy. Some people are just braggarts who like to poke and poke the mediocre.
