Does Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett really have Secret Service protection? If so, why? I think that’s highly unusual, not to mention costly, for a senior White House aide to have Secret Service agents assigned to her. Um, here we go again, how elitist of the Obama machine! Well, the Keith Koffler-Drudge Report tag team is running with this story. Yeah, it might be a waste of money, but let’s pick apart the other administrations and their advisers too.
My understanding is that at the senior levels of the Bush White House, at least during the latter days, only the president and his family, the vice president, the chief of staff, the national security adviser, and the homeland security adviser were assigned Secret Service agents.
It’s possible that Jarrett has received enough specific and credible threats to justify Secret Service protection, or that the Secret Service has for some other reason calculated that she needs bodyguards. But it’s also possible this is a case of oddly overdoing it – and overusing taxpayer resources.
Is she really such a public figure? I’m sure 90 percent of Americans have little to no idea who she is. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is far better known and spends his time warning terrorists and our foreign adversaries about bad behavior while trumpeting the killing of Osama Bin Laden. I’m sure he does not have protection. Source: White House Dossier
Maybe it’s a bit over-the-top, but we aren’t privy to the information in the White House, unless Keith Koffler is in Obama’s inner circle. If so, I stand corrected because he would have first-hand knowledge of every move the Obamas make, including when he and Michelle get busy in the bedroom. It struck a nerve in the right wingers because she was accompanied by Secret Service agents to Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta yesterday where she attacked Republicans during her speech on MLK Day. It should be noted that Valerie Jarrett is now defending her attacks on the Republican Party from the pulpit yesterday. I will concede one point, the pulpit is no place to take a political position or even try to influence the political discourse. If pastors want to be more politically engaged, then giving up that IRS exempt status would be a good starting point, but of course, that will happen when hell freezes over.
