Mitt Romney Apologizes for Bullying John Lauber at Cranbrook School in 1965

ETCH-A-SKETCH moment:  GOP presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney apologized for a 1965 incident at Cranbrook School, located in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., where he allegedly bullied a male student who was thought to be gay. Um, really people? Obama is laughing at this distraction and is it really important in the grand scheme of things? 1965 vs. 2012?

“I did some dumb things and if anybody was hurt by that or offended … obviously I apologize,” Romney said on Kilmeade & Friends, a radio show. He also told Kilmeade that he wasn’t “going to be too concerned” about the article. Um, really? Then why bother apologizing?

“I don’t remember that incident and I’ll tell you I certainly don’t believe that I … thought the fellow was homosexual,” Romney said. “That was the furthest thing from my mind back in the 1960s, so that was not the case,” he added.

The Washington Post ran the  story, which quotes five of Romney’s classmates from Cranbook, which is located in a Detroit suburb, as saying he led a group of boys who pinned down John Lauber while Romney himself cut the boy”s “bleached blonde hair that draped over one eye.” John Joseph Lauber, who was expelled from Cranbrook for smoking, died from liver cancer in 2004. I’m sure he would remember what Mitt Romney and his posse did to him. The timing on the Washington Post article is interesting — just one day after President Obama endorsed gay marriage and a few days after Vice President Joe Biden and Education Secretary Arne Duncan also endorsed gay marriage.

UPDATE#1: It seems that there’s yet another student Mitt Romney displayed anti-gay sentiments towards — Gary Hummel, a closeted gay, who he disrupted in English class at Cranbrook, shouting, “Atta girl.” He also behaved in a “sour fashion” towards scholarship recipient Lou Vierling because he was from a poor area of Detroit, the Washington Post reports. Um, elitist behavior? This is going to be one nasty election campaign.

Janet this is going to be the dirtiest campaign ever as  President Obama with the help of VP Biden, secretary of Education Duncan and the Whasington Post fired the first salvo. Now we know that Biden’s and Duncan’s comments were well planned to have Obama come out in favor of Gay Marriage a day before an explosive article in the Post. Serious topics are being put on the back burner as trivial items take center stage.

No eloquence of phrasing is need to reply to you and your inane drivel. You’re a moron. I expect with your attitude that you should be up in arms about NOM dirty tricks (pitting minorities against each other), Karl Rove and the whole “swift boat” campaign against Kerry. Serious topics? Get real! The rights of “all” Americans is as serious as it gets. Go crawl back into the primordial ooze until you can come out as a human being.

In my 69 years of life I have learned many things. One of them is that an idiot will always attempt to dazzale you with bull shit, in an attempt to hide his ignorance. And you happen to have a boat load of it.

  • Janet:

Why do you call Romeny “Etch A Sketch” while Obama has a long list of video clips opposing the radical change of Traditional marriage but he now wiped clean his “Blank Canvas” and has painted a new picture?

WORSE THOUGH is the PROGRESSIVE ANTI-WAR community. During the past 2 weeks we heard the Obama Administration announcing plans to significantly increase drone strikes on Yemen – in which those who the USA has labeled TERRORISTS are blown up – never getting the chance to due process – the very issues that the left attacked BUSH over.

Do you think that it is worse that OBAMA has changed or the LEFT WING in America has changed so they don’t have to criticize Obama for doing the very things they used to take to the streets over?

What bull!  Wait til what Mitt did in 3d grade is revealed; now I hate to break up this immature things I did in HS fest, but could we perhaps address unemployment & how Obama or Rommey are going to tackle that huge issues!
