Beyonce’s New Song ‘Bow Down:‘ So much for Beyonce being that positive role model, thanks to her profanity-laced new song, “Bow Down.” What’s interesting is that it has even caught the attention of conservative windbag Rush Limbaugh, who says the song encourages women to ‘bow down’ to their men. He said the song is telling women to “put up with it” when their husbands or boyfriends put them through a difficult relationship.
Limbaugh said, “She married the rich guy. She now understands it’s worth it to bow down to men.” That’s just as despicable as the lyrics to the song. He added, “She’s going to call herself Mrs. Carter on the Bow Down B*tches Tour.” As usual, Rush Limbaugh gets it completely wrong. He said she pulled a 180 with this song. No more empowering women, since she married a rich guy and got impregnated. Um, one problem, Beyonce was already rich when she married Jay-Z, Rush. If he bothered to listen closely or even read the lyrics, he would realize she was talking about her place in the music industry relative to newcomers: “I know when you were little girls/You dreamt of being in my world/Don’t forget it, don’t forget it/Respect that. Bow Down Bitches.” Yeah, I will admit, it’s a crass way to get your views across. Pretty egotistical if you ask me. Beyonce hasn’t earned the ‘Queen’ moniker yet, especially after that mess with the National Anthem at President Obama’s inauguration.
The advice to these women is, “Go ahead and put up with it. Put up with it now. Bow down, b-i-itches,” because why? She got married. She married the rich guy and she now understands. She now understands it’s worth it to bow down, and so now she’s passing on this advice. There’s a big story about this in the UK Telegraph, a major story on…? Not Obama’s trip to Israel. It’s a major story about Beyonce’s tour and what it’s called and how she’s Mrs. Carter and how she’s now advising women to put up with it.
When you find the right guy, you put up with it, bow down, and the story in the UK Telegraph is written by an angry woman who feels betrayed by Beyonce. This woman is not gonna bow down. The woman who wrote this piece is not gonna do it. I have it here. I have so many stacks of stuff that if I get everything in this program, this is gonna be one for the ages. I’ve got 15 stacks here. I don’t know where I put it. Right here.
Ah! Ah! Here it is. It’s by Felicity Capon: “Beyonce’s new single, Bow Down, marks a change in direction for the independent woman the US president handpicks to play at his parties. Felicity Capon explains why the lyrics leave a bitter taste.” It’s a huge story. So I’m telling you: The thing that’s gonna shake this country up is gonna be Obama on an open mike dissing Timberlake’s latest CD or his latest fashion line, or maybe saying something negative about Beyonce. You watch. Don’t doubt me. Source
This song is certainly not what we expected to hear from Beyonce. Maybe from her husband Jay-Z, since he has a history of spewing venom against gays and women. Beyonce has long considered herself a feminist and most certainly would not agree with Limbaugh’s interpretation. The song is troubling and I have to ask, after hearing this, does Michelle Obama still hold her friend in such high esteem as a positive role model for her daughters?
You see, Beyonce claims to be all about empowering women to reach for the skies. So, it’s pretty hypocritical to suggest otherwise with “Bow Down B*tches.” The message to women is that they needn’t bow down to anyone except their Lord and Savior if they are Christians. Women, like men, should be true to self first. I guess the word b*tch is now commonplace to many like the word n*gger. Neither word represents the best of women or blacks but the dumbing-down of America continues.
To end, Beyonce’s new song, “Bow Down” is a disgrace to women across the world. You would never hear such garbage coming from Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker, Vanessa Williams, Stephanie Mills, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Thelma Houston, Diana Ross and all the other trailblazers in the entertainment world. She should be ashamed of herself.
