Miss France, Laury Thilleman, shows her true colors by being a sore loser and trashing the newly crowned black Miss Universe Leila Lopes, saying she won partly because competition held in Brazil.
|Miss France Laury Thilleman trashes newly crowned Miss Universe|
There are sore losers and then there are back-stabbing, low-down, stink losers like Miss Universe contestant, Miss France, Laury Thilleman. She made some horrible comments about the newly crowned Miss Universe, Miss Angola, Leila Lopes, who is an absolutely stunning young lady. She just can’t get over the fact that a black woman won Miss Universe. Talk about hateration! Here’s the article excerpted from the Washington Post:
The French magazine Premiere.fr reports that Miss France, a top 10 finalist in the competition, made the comments during a telephone interview with the magazine. She said the win surprised her (actually she said all the contestants were surprised) and noted that Miss Angola hardly ever wore makeup and she often wore jeans. And she was reserved and lacking in personality. Oh, and the fact that the contest was held in Brazil played a role — the implication being that Angola is a former Portuguese colony like Brazil. (If that’s the case then why didn’t they just elect Miss Brazil!? )
Here are Miss France’s quotes, as translated. Judge for yourself.
“She was the only girl I didn’t know very well. We didn’t see her much; she was very discreet. She was often in jeans and not wearing makeup. We were all surprised by her win. Many girls made efforts that were not rewarded. I don’t know, something is missing in her temperament. The fact that the competition was held in Brazil surely played a role.”
Um, childish and just plain wrong. What’s wrong with wearing jeans and going without make-up? Obviously Leila Lopes is confident and comfortable with herself. Sounds a little racist to me, don’t you think? We have the white supremacists calling her a monkey in this country and we have a Miss Universe contestant basically taking offense to Lopes being chosen to wear the crown. The world should be glad Laury Thilleman didn’t win the crown. Her objection and denigration of Leila Lopes is no different from the white supremacists in this country, from websites such as Stormfront.
