Mitt Romney was asked about his position on illegal immigration and the Dream Act during the Florida presidential debate. Well, I also fell off my chair when he said “self-deportation” would be his method of sending illegal immigrants home. Um, really Mitt? Wow, tell all the illegal immigrants here to engage in self-deportation. Just a lot of BS.
Mitt Romney called Newt Gingrich an “influence peddler” for the time he spent “lobbying” in Washington D.C. Newt says Mitt is lying. Ron Paul backed Mitt Romney’s attack that Newt Gingrich was thrown out of his leadership position. Paul says, “Newt claim that he voluntarily quit as Speaker. he stepped down because he did not have votes to stay.
Newt Gingrich releases contract with Freddie Mac but, one problem — the contract doesn’t list what he was contracted to do. Seems to me you don’t pay someone $1.6 million for nothing. There’s more to this story than Newt Gingrich is saying.
It is my hope that the people of Florida will dismiss this hypocrite for his association with Freddie Mac, which threw many Floridians out of their homes in foreclosure, while accepting millions in bail-out funds from the government.
I read the entire contract and it is very vague about his specific duties. It calls for a $300,000 retainer and $25,000 in fees monthly for the year 2006. Click here to view Gingrich’s contract with Freddie Mac.
Bloomberg: “The Republican hopeful’s first contract, spanning 1999 to 2002 and worth between $1 million and $1.2 million, according to two people familiar with the agreement, wasn’t released because officials at the Center for Health Transformation can’t find it, said Susan Meyers, a center spokeswoman who also works for the Gingrich campaign. The 2006 contract also applied to 2007, she said, which means the total value of that contract was $600,000.”
Kyle Williams, 49ers backup kick returner, gets death threats on Twitter. He fumbled in overtime to set up Lawrence Tynes’ 31-yard field goal, and the 49ers lost the NFC championship game to the New York Giants 20-17 on Sunday. This was the second mistake he made during the game. Kyle Williams put his hands on his helmet and dropped his head in disgust.
Death threats? It’s only a game and it’s not worth it. This comes after Chris Middleton was shot in the stomach outside a Duluth, Ga., Applebee’s restaurant by Saints fan Donald Ayro.
Have you seen this man, Donald Hux? He is wanted in the murder of Mike Huckabee’s cousin, Sandy Carl Huckabee, who was found dead at his Arkadelphia home. Sandy Carl Huckabee is the first cousin of the former GOP presidential candidate and former Arkansas governor. Police believe Huckabee was killed by Donald Hux, the ex-husband of his wife, Amy Huckabee, who is missing. Police are investigating her disappearance as a kidnapping and a suspected love-triangle.
Hux and Amy Huckabee had three children from their previous marriage and Hux dropped all three off at his parents’ house in El Dorado, which is 80 miles away, on Sunday morning. Union County Sheriff’s Captain Clark Burton said the children were not hurt.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike Huckabee and his family in the death of Sandy Carl Huckabee. If you have any information, please contact the Arkadelphia police. Time is of the essence in finding Amy Huckabee. The more time that goes by, the more likely her body will be found. These children deserve to have their mother in their lives.
Sandy Carl Huckabee appears to have suffered a head trauma, but not much else is known about the crime scene. No weapons were found at the scene, and police have said that they consider Donald Hux to be armed and dangerous, the Daily Mail reports.
UPDATE#1: Donald Hux was killed in a shootout with police. Amy Huckabee was fatally shot by Hux. Now we have three people dead. Donald Hux reportedly harassed Amy Huckabee from prison.
Gallup Poll: “Americans’ satisfaction with the state of the nation’s economy has dropped by 23 percentage points since January 2008 to 13%, according to a Jan. 5-8 Gallup poll. These figures represent both the lowest rate of satisfaction and the biggest decline seen for any of 24 issues measured in the survey. Attitudes toward the moral and ethical climate and the size and power of the federal government are similar to each other. Slightly fewer than 3 in 10 Americans are satisfied with each, down from about 4 in 10 in 2008, the last presidential election year and the last time Gallup measured satisfaction on all 24 items.”
I guess the last person I would look to improve ethics and morals in the U.S. is Newt Gingrich — House ethics investigation, admitted adulterer, worked with Freddie Mac, which played a great role in the mortgage meltdown that led to high foreclosure rates.
Here is a list of the top 24 issues rankling Americans:
Will the black Hollywood elite, which includes Samuel L. Jackson, Pauletta Washington (Denzel Washington’s wife) and Debbie Allen, support President Obama the second time around? It’s interesting, since some like Samuel L. Jackson, have expressed some ambivalence to his performance thus far. I guess I can ask the question of what has the black Hollywood elite done for blacks in the inner cities?
Daily Beast, Samuel L. Jackson says, “Some days I agree with Dr. West and what he says about the president not dealing enough with the plight of the poor” says Jackson. “Then I think about how they won’t give him credit for anything… The president got about a week of moderate applause for capturing the most-wanted man in the world. You ask me, he should have put that motherf*cker on ice and defrosted his ass Nov. 1.”
There are also those players behind the scene, such as well-known retired lawyer Michael Lawson and his wife, Mattie Lawson, who have raised nearly $2 million for his various campaigns. Mattie Lawson didn’t want to support him in 2008, but changed her tune once she got to know him. They are ready to support the president’s reelection campaign.
President Obama is in a tough reelection race because many blacks are disillusioned with his record, particularly since many remain unemployed and having a hard time making ends meet. Many blacks, like staunch critics Tavis Smiley and Cornel West, believe his lack of attention to the needs of blacks and the poor will spell doom for his reelection. For me, it comes down to retraining and getting the right skillset. That should be pushed on the state level and not the federal level. If we can get more people retrained for careers involving healthcare, technology and manufacturing, for example, then we would be on our way to seeing a significant drop in the high unemployment rates and the middle class rising once again.
As for the black Hollywood elite, I’m pretty sure they have a vested interest in seeing President Obama win reelection and not Newt Gingrich. So, it’s a moot point, in my opinion to speculate on them failing to turn out in support of Barack Obama.
