Drudge Report Says Condoleezza Rice Frontrunner as Mitt Romney’s Running Mate

The Drudge Report is saying Condoleezza Rice has emerged as the front runner for Mitt Romney’s running mate. Matt Drudge has been wrong before, so let’s see how this plays out. Um, this is called changing the news coverage about Mitt Romney. This leak was meant to take the heat off Romney over his Bain departure date and his catastrophic speech at the NAACP convention.

It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney’s Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.

Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.

In recent days, she emailed supporters:

“2012 is perhaps a turning point for the United States.”

“The upcoming elections loom as one of the most important in my lifetime,” she warned. “I’m very often asked to speak about our current foreign policy and the challenges that lie before us. However, we, as a country, are not going to be able to address any of those international challenges unless we first get our domestic house in order.” Source: Drudge Report

If Mitt Romney picks Condoleezza Rice, she will be a far more credible vice presidential candidate than Sarah Palin. I personally like Condi Rice, but I wonder if she could live down the rehashing of the Iraqi war and her association with George W. Bush and Dick Cheney? Still, Condoleezza Rice has never run for public office, but she’s no political novice. She was one of the most powerful women in the world like her Democratic counterpart Hillary Clinton.

SHOCK:  A Washington D.C. police officer who worked as a motorcycle escort for White House officials was moved to administrative duties Wednesday after he was allegedly heard saying he would kill First Lady Michelle Obama and what kind of gun he would use. The officer was a part of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Special Operations Division. Yeah, one wingnut who got too close to the First Family.

The police department’s Internal Affairs Division is investigating the alleged comments and notified the U.S. Secret Service Wednesday, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to give details of the investigation.

The motorman allegedly made the comments Wednesday morning as several officers from the Special Operations Division discussed threats against the Obamas. It was not immediately clear where the alleged conversation took place or exactly how many officers took part in the conversation.

During that conversation, the officials said, the officer allegedly said he would shoot the First Lady and then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use. It was not immediately clear what type of firearm was allegedly shown. Source

Yep, all the crazies are coming out of the woodwork with the election just months away. Please tell us this wingnut’s name. Shouldn’t this officer have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and not on desk duty?

When will we hear from the Obama campaign as to why he didn’t bother to attending the  103rd NAACP convention in Houston, instead sending his sidekick, Joe Biden, instead? It doesn’t seem that his schedule was all that booked up and considering that he’s the president, his wishes are usually accommodated, so what’s up with that? Sorry, but sending a pre-taped video praising the organization that aired before Biden’s address isn’t good enough.  Um, how could I forget. Obama ran from racial issues during the 2008 presidential campaign, so was this a calculated move on his part not to attend, as it was a calculated move on Mitt Romney’s part to attend?

Don’t get me wrong, I have long maintained that the NAACP has lost its edge and it’s not what it used to be, but if you want to show the black community you care, then delivering a speech at the convention would have been a good move. You see, President Obama, like the Democratic Party, continues to take the black vote for granted. The Republicans could have made some inroads had they only been able to keep all the racist rhetoric out of the debate and show the black community that the party truly cares about its needs and issues. But no, we have people like conservative windbag Rush Limbaugh saying Mitt Romney’s speech at the convention went above “their heads,” meaning the black attendees. What’s worse, we have the presumptive GOP presidential nominee saying if they want “free stuff” then vote for Obama. Really dude?

Back to President Obama and his convenient absence from the NAACP convention…. Buzzfeed is reporting that convention organizers said ”the president’s office cited a “scheduling conflict” as the reason he couldn’t attend (Obama spent today in Washington D.C., and has no major public events.)”  If this isn’t a snub by President Obama, who clearly has the majority of the black vote all sewn up, then I don’t know what is. It seems pretty odd that the first black president of the United States is sending his white vice president to address the NAACP convention. Some blacks may be reluctant to criticize President Obama, but I am not.  Maybe I am wrong, but until the Obama campaign explains why he didn’t bother to show his face at the NAACP convention, I will continue to call it a snub.

Nike just dissed Joe Paterno big time or Joe Paterno dissed Nike. In any case, the company is cutting its last remaining ties with the former Penn State football coach by removing his name from the child care building on the corporation’s campus. Nike’s move comes hours after independent investigators revealed Paterno helped cover-up facts about the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.

Nike President Mark Parker said in a statement, “With the findings released today, I have decided to change the name of our child care center at our World Headquarters.” Nike founder Phil Knight added, “It appears Joe made missteps that led to heartbreaking consequences.” PSU sports teams have been outfitted by Nike since 1996. Romney Campaign Disputes Boston Globe Bain Departure Date Claims

Mitt Romney departure date at Bain Capital is in question and he’s pushing back against a report in the Boston Globe saying he left in 1999 and not 2002 as SEC filings seem to indicate. Who do you believe? A flip-flopper or the SEC documents?

CNN:  ”Roberta Karmel, a former SEC commissioner who served during President Jimmy Carter’s administration, said the documents raise questions about Romney’s role at Bain after the GOP contender says he left the company.

“It’s a criminal offense to file a false document with the SEC,” Karmel said. “And if that isn’t true, then he made a false filing, which is something I don’t think he wants to claim.” She continued: “If he listed himself and he was getting paid, he was legally responsible.” ”Either you’re the owner or you’re not the owner,” Karmel added. “You can’t have it both ways.”

If Mitt Romney lied on SEC documents, then he committed a felony. That would feed into the notion of why he is stalling on releasing his tax returns from previous years. How do we separate fact from fiction? Damn, the Obama campaign is reportedly saying Mitt Romney is a liar and a potential criminal.

Natalie Cole’s mother, Maria Cole, who is the widow of singer Nat King Cole, died of cancer at age 89, her family said Thursday. Mrs. Cole died at a hospice in Boca Raton, Fla., Tuesday. Maria Cole, an accomplished jazz singer, was married to Nat King Cole for 17 years before his death from lung cancer in 1965.

MITT ROMNEY LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!

Mitt Romney, who claims President Obama is lying about his outsourcing record,  seems to have forgotten one itsy-bitsy detail, he invested millions according to Mother Jones, in a Chinese company that profited nicely from U.S. outsourcing:

Mother Jones exclusive:  ”On April 17, 1998, Brookside Capital Partners Fund, a Bain Capital affiliate, filed a report with the Securities and Exchange Commission noting that it had acquired 6.13 percent of Hong Kong-based Global-Tech Appliances, which manufactured household appliances in a production facility in the industrial city of Dongguan, China. That August, according to another SEC filing, Brookside upped its interest in Global-Tech to 10.3 percent. Both SEC filings identified Romney as the person in control of this investment: “Mr. W. Mitt Romney is the sole shareholder, sole director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Brookside Inc. and thus is the controlling person of Brookside Inc.” Each of these documents was signed by Domenic Ferrante, a managing director of Brookside and Bain.”

Add The Boston Globe reports that there is evidence Romney did not leave Bain Capital until 2002:

Mitt Romney has repeatedly sought to distance himself from some business dealings at Bain Capital by asserting that he left the firm in February 1999, but a review of public records shows that his authority lingered for three more years as Bain repeatedly listed him on government filings as the man in charge. Until 2002, when Romney and Bain Capital finalized a severance agreement, he remained the firm’s “sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer and president,” according to SEC documents. The description was applied even to the creation of five new Bain partnerships a full three years after Romney has said he relinquished all control.

Either Mitt Romney lied on SEC filings or he’s lying about when he left Bain in order to say “it wasn’t me” or “I didn’t know” over Bain deals that caused people to lose their jobs as more and more of our manufacturing sector was outsourced to China. Um, seems like lying to the SEC is a really big deal, isn’t it a felony? Mitt Romney’s outsourcing lies are unraveling right before his eyes. Of course, the Romney camp is saying the Boston Globe’s story is “inaccurate.” If history is prologue, then I will go with the Boston Globe on this one.

WTF: The Robinson Funeral Home in Easley, SC, will have something extra when you go for a viewing — Starbucks coffee. WTF? The last thing I would want while going to view a body lying in a casket is a cup of coffee from the Starbucks “Coffee Corner.”

The owner, Chris Robinson, explains how coffee has always been part of the family business, saying his great-grandfather started the funeral home inside a main street general store, where people would gather and drink coffee.

“You walk in the front, and it’s off to the side,” Robinson said. “It’s not like it’s right up front.”

Robinson has hired staff to run the Starbucks franchise which will be open to the public, not just to those attending services. Source

I will give Chris Robinson credit for coming up with a novel idea, however repulsive it is to some people. Gee, I wonder, will they sell those oh-so-expensive Starbucks pastries too?

Oh no he didn’t — Mitt Romney reportedly said “if they (Obamacare supporters) want more stuff from government tell them to go vote for the other guy – more free stuff. But don’t forget nothing is really free.” Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren posted an excerpt of the report (below) with a broader context on what Romney said. He bragged about not attenuating his message to the NAACP crowd, as though somehow they were stupid:

“By the way, I had the privelege of speaking today at the NAACP convention in Houston and I gave them the same speech I am giving you. I don’t give different speeches to different audiences alright. I gave them the same speech.When I mentioned I am going to get rid of Obamacare they weren’t happy, I didn’t get the same response. That’s ok, I want people to know what I stand for and if I don’t stand for what they want, go vote for someone else, that’s just fine.

But I hope people understand this, your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this, if they want more stuff from government tell them to go vote for the other guy-more free stuff. But don’t forget nothing is really free. it has to paid for by people in the private sector creating goods and services, and if people want jobs more than they want free stuff from government, then they are going to have to get government to be smaller.

And if they don’t want to repeal Obamacare they are going to have to give me some other stuff they are thinking about cutting, but my list takes Obamacare off first and I have a lot of other things I am thinking of cutting.” Source

So, if you want more free stuff from the government, then by all means, vote for President Obama. Um, I have never received a handout from the government. I have had to work for everything I have and I wouldn’t have it any other way. That’s an insult to every black voter in this country, who are hardworking, law-abiding and decent people. Mitt Romney’s aloofness is the prime reason why we will not endorse him.

Mitt Romney displays a contemptuous attitude toward people who support health care reform, simply because they want insurance that they pay for that will actually cover them and their loved ones, mainly their children who are young adults, who have no coverage. For many, health care isn’t about getting a freebie from the government. Sorry Mitt, it’s not like the tax loophole freebies you have by virtue of your offshore accounts and your enormous wealth. To put it simply, Mitt Romney is a joke compared to his father.

Romney Campaign Releases Video Asking How Can We Trust Obama, but Couldn’t We Ask the Same Question of Mitt Romney?

The Obama campaign released a new video, slamming Mitt Romney on his secret stash in a Swiss bank account. Believe me, I am not so thrilled with Obama, but I am less thrilled with Mitt Romney. Boooo!

A new Gallup poll found that Mitt Romney’s wealth cost him with one in five voters. According to the poll, 20% of voters, mainly Democrats and independents, say his wealth makes them less likely to vote for him, while four percent say it makes them more likely.

Here’s the video:

The Romney campaign released an ad asking “how can we trust him” meaning President Obama. Um, we could ask the same question of Mitt Romney, how can we trust him? Offshore banks accounts, Bain Capital, Romneycare, stint as Massachusetts governor, affirmative action, tax returns, attacking Obama on attending Ivy League schools yet having attained two degrees from same university, etc. Seems to me Mitt Romney is getting a bit of the same mess he doled out to Newt Gingrich during the primaries.
