Poll: President Obama Leads Mitt Romney 47 to 43 Percent on Convention Bounce Despite Jobs Report

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll finds President Obama widening his lead, 47 percent to 43 percent, over GOP opponent, Mr. Multiple Choice, Mitt Romney.

The latest daily tracking poll showed Obama, a Democrat, with a lead of 4 percentage points over Romney. Forty-seven percent of 1,457 likely voters surveyed online over the previous four days said they would vote for Obama if the November 6 elections were held today, compared with 43 percent for Romney. “The bump is actually happening. I know there was some debate whether it would happen… but it’s here,” said Ipsos pollster Ms. Clark, referring to the “bounce” in support that many presidential candidates enjoy after nominating conventions.

The Romney campaign promise to ‘carpet-bag’ the airwaves Friday. Um, did that go out with whimper. He seems rather desperate to me for twisting fact and fiction after he implied President Obama of wanting remove God from coins.

Nate Silver estimates Obama has been running ahead 7 to 9 points since Bill Clinton spoke.

Andrew Sullivan: “Yes, the ad blitz is coming; yes, the debates will be crucial, yes, turnout matters a huge amount too, anything can happen, blah blah blah. But right in front of our noses is some compelling data that in the first real skirmish of the campaign proper, the Romney-Republicans blew it.”

Republicans Continue Attacks on Sandra Fluke with Joe Walsh ‘Get a Job’ Slam

Rep. Joe Walsh is the latest Republican to attack Sandra Fluke, telling the law student to ‘get a job.’ Rep. Walsh joins Republicans such as Rush Limbaugh slamming the law student over contraception coverage. He made the comments during a campaign stop in Addison, IL.

“So at the Democratic Convention Wednesday night their first prime time speaker was Sandra Fluke, whatever her name is,” Walsh said. “Think about this, a 31-32 year old law student who has been a student for life, who gets up there in front of a national audience and tells the American people, ‘I want America to pay for my contraceptives.’ You’re kidding me. Go get a job. Go get a job Sandra Fluke.”

“This a woman who feels entitled that we all should pay for her contraceptives,” he said. “This is what we are teaching Americans? That was embarrassing. That was embarrassing.” Source: Talking Points Memo
