Voter Intimidation, Mitt Romney and the Republican Party:  Well, what do you know, leaked audio has surfaced with Mitt Romney making some questionable comments. This time, Romney is asking business owners on a conference call on June 6, 2012, to the very conservative National Federation of Independent Business, to “make it very clear” to their employees how they feel about the candidates and “pass along to your employees” how their jobs could be affected by who wins the presidential election. This is in keeping with the threats we are hearing from one of the Koch brothers and two other wealthy business owners threatening their employees with job losses if they don’t vote for Mitt Romney. Are we going back to the dark ages in America? Voter intimidation is illegal and I would love to see those two business owners fire their employees for voting for Barack Obama. It’s funny that the New Black Panthers were accused of voter intimidation, but these extremely wealthy business owners, along with their buddy Mitt Romney, are engaging in the same behavior, but no outrage from the right wing.

The audio was discovered by In These Times:

I hope you make it very clear to your employees what you believe is in the best interest of your enterprise and therefore their job and their future in the upcoming elections. And whether you agree with me or you agree with President Obama, or whatever your political view, I hope — I hope you pass those along to your employees. Nothing illegal about you talking to your employees about what you believe is best for the business, because I think that will figure into their election decision, their voting decision and of course doing that with your family and your kids as well.

Listen at 26:44:

David Siegel, who owns Westgate Resorts, sent an email to his employees threatening termination if they vote for President Obama and not Mitt Romney:

So where am I going with all this? It’s quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company. Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone.

So, when you make your decision to vote, ask yourself, which candidate understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn’t? Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one capable of protecting and saving your job. While the media wants to tell you to believe the “1 percenters” are bad, I’m telling you they are not. They create most of the jobs. If you lose your job, it won’t be at the hands of the “1%”; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country.  (h/t Think Progress) The entire email is here.

There’s more:  Arthur Allen, CEO of ASG Software Solutions, sent an email to his employees saying they would only have themselves to blame if they lose their jobs if President Obama wins. The email reads:

If we fail as a nation to make the right choice on November 6th, and we lose our independence as a company, I don’t want to hear any complaints regarding the fallout that will most likely come.

The Week linked to our article:

The reaction: Romney endorsed “voter intimidation,” pure and simple, says Janet Shan at The Hinterland Gazette. He’s calling for just the kind of “threats we are hearing from one of the Koch brothers and two other wealthy business owners threatening their employees with job losses if they don’t vote for Mitt Romney.”

Tagg Romney Felt Like Taking Swing at President Obama for Calling Out Father’s Lies

Not only is Mitt Romney disrespectful to President Obama, his son, Tagg Romney, is too. He said he felt like “taking a swing” at Obama for calling his father a liar. The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree but it is a known fact that Mitt Romney has been caught in many lies.

“Well, you want to jump out of your seat and rush down to the debate stage and take a swing at him.”

Tagg Romney, in an interview on WPTF-AM, when he was asked how it felt to hear President Obama call his father a liar during the presidential debate.

Tough talk coming from someone who never bothered to serve his country in the military, like his four brothers. Tagg Romney learned to be a bully, just like his dad. Hey, Tagg, go ahead and make our day, take a swing at President Obama you punk.

It would seem that President Obama should be the least of Tagg Romney’s worries. His equity firm is a whole other story, possibly ripe for an investigation:

Drudge Report Goes Nuts Over Eva Longoria Tweet Calling Romney Racist

The Drudge Report is going nuts over a so-called racist/misogynistic tweet retweeted by Eva Longoria. Um, Matt Drudge, you may not want to pick a fight with Miss Eva. The right leaning Washington Times picked up the story and Matt Drudge is trying to break Usain Bolt’s record with it on his site.

Here’s the tweet in question:

Gallup: US Unemployment at 7.3 Percent in Mid-October, More Good News for Obama (Gallup)

More good news for President Obama’s reelection bid as Gallup released a report showing that the unadjusted employment rate in mid-October is 7.3 percent. I guess the Republicans will say the Obama administration leaned on Gallup.

Gallup:  U.S. unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is 7.3% in mid-October, down considerably from 7.9% at the end of September and at a new low since Gallup began collecting employment data in January 2010. Gallup’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 7.7%, also down from September. October’s adjusted mid-month measure is also more than a percentage point lower than October 2011.

Obama Campaign Buys Twitter Ad Mocking Mitt Romney “Binders Full of Women” Comment

Mitt Romney’s “binders full of women” line is sticking, just like Big Bird from the first presidential debate. The Obama campaign has a promoted tweet slamming his comment and not backing equal pay for women via the Lilly Ledbetter Act. Read more below:

You know what whole “binders full of women” culling thingy? Greg Sargent from the Washington Post sets the record straight:

The tale isn’t quite how he told it, according to Liz Levin, the chair of a women’s group that was right in the middle of the story at the time.

In fact, Levin tells me, the groups initiated contact with him and urged him to hire more women — when he was still a candidate — and began creating the binders themselves on their own initiative before he took office. In fairness to Romney, she says, he did agree to work with them…

“He did not initiate our project,” Levin says. “He was the recipient of a project we put together.”

What? Conservative pundit George Will says President Obama “not only gained ground he lost but he cauterized some wounds that he inflicted on himself by seeming too diffident and disengaged.” He also said, “it was a very good fight. I have seen every presidential debate in American history since the floor of Nixon and Kennedy in 1960. This was immeasurably the best.” He concluded by saying, “I think as a tactical measure tonight, the president did very well.”

President Obama Did Call Benghazi Consulate Attack an “Act of Terror” During 9/13 Colorado Campaign Speech

Obama knock-out of Mitt Romney

President Obama Did Call Benghazi Consulate Attack an “Act of Terror” During 9/13 Colorado Campaign Speech

Mitt Romney got the smackdown of a lifetime during the presidential debate when he was fact-checked by Candy Crowley, the moderator of the second presidential debate, when he claimed the president didn’t call the Benghazi consulate attack and “act of terror.” Well, it turns out the president did use those words the very next day, September 12, after Ambassador Chris Stevens, Tyrone Woods, Sean Smith and Glen Doherty were killed in a deadly attack, during a speech in the Rose Garden. Romney claims Obama didn’t use those words until 14 days later. Foreign Policy also said President Obama used those words on September 13 during a campaign stop in Colorado.

“So what I want all of you to know is that we are going to bring those who killed our fellow Americans to justice. I want people around the world to hear me: To all those who would do us harm, no act of terror will go unpunished. It will not dim the light of the values that we proudly present to the rest of the world. No act of violence shakes the resolve of the United States of America.” Source

Candy Crowley isn’t walking back her comment, but agreed that it did take the administration 14 days to admit that it wasn’t the film that really caused the attack, but a terrorist hit. The Republicans, including Paul Ryan (Lying Ryan) is spinning this as though she did. By the way, Candy Crowley appeared on Soledad O’Brien’s show today and emphatically said she did not backtrack on saying President Obama did use the phrase “act of terror” but said, as she did during the debate, that it took the administration 14 days to admit what it was. Um, Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney need to stop spinning this woman’s words.

Here’s Candy Crowley on CNN this morning:
