It turns out that Lynn Wachtmann is a self-righteous windbag. He sponsored legislation governing water usage from Lake Erie, while serving as president of a water bottling company that gets its supply from Lake Erie. Um, do as I say, but not as I do. The Cleveland Plain Dealer Editorial Board reports:
When is a conflict of interest not a conflict of interest? Apparently, when it involves the water-bottling interests of the chief sponsor of water-withdrawal legislation in the Ohio House. State Rep. Lynn Wachtmann, a Republican from northwest Ohio, is president of a water bottling business that buys its liquid assets from the city of Napoleon, which in turn draws its H2O from the Lake Erie watershed, according to Larry Mitchell Sr., president of the League of Ohio Sportsmen.
