Former Sesame Street puppeteer, Kevin Clash, who was the voice of Elmo for decades, could face criminal charges after Cecil Singleton, who claims he had a sexual relationship with Clash that began when he was 15, is expected to meet with Manhattan district attorney as early as next week. The only hitch to this moving forward is that under New York State law child sexual abuse victims must come forward by the time they turn 23. Cecil Singleton turned 24 on May 24, 2012.
The NY Daily News reports Cecil Singleton met with NYPD detectives from the special victim’s unit Wednesday, one day after he filed a $5 million lawsuit against Kevin Clash. His attorney, Jeff Herman, said he spoke with the DA’s office about possible criminal charges shortly before filing the lawsuit.
