President Obama shook the hand of South Korean “sensation” Psy at a White House charity event and the right wing goes nuts. Why? Psy, whose real name is Park Jae-Sang, sang about wanting to kill American soldiers in 2004, and his apology has fallen on deaf ears. The headline on the Breitbart article, “Obama, Biden Cozy Up to Anti-American Rapper Psy,” is laughable at best. Um, gee, how do they explain the vitriol spewed by rocker Ted Nugent? It’s okay for him to insult the majority of Americans in the name of conservatism. Never mind the fact that singing legend Diana Ross was also snapped in the same photograph with Vice President Joe Biden and the South Korean rapper.

Never mind the fact that Psy owes his popularity to millions of Americans who have watched his “Gangnam Style” video on YouTube. He has apologized for his anti-American protest song he sang that included the lines, ‘‘kill those f****** Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives…kill them all slowly and painfully.’ The majority of Americans respect our soldiers and don’t want to see any harm come to them, but the war in Iraq has been a sore point for many, including Americans. Advocating violence against our men and women in uniform is wrong but how about taking him at his word for his apology and moving on? We listen to some U.S. rappers and rockers denigrate women everyday in their songs and the outrage is virtually nonexistent. Never mind the fact that Diana Ross was among the performers as well.

What’s equally disturbing are some of the comments left on Breitbart by some of their visitors. They are in the same vein as the ugly lyrics uttered by Psy in 2004. You can’t have it both ways.

It’s only an outrage if they’re singing about US troops. If it’s Toby Keith singing, “We’ll put a boot in their ass, it’s the American Way,” that’s a praiseworthy patriotic sentiment.

I remember when Toby Keith sang about killing innocent children, slowly and painfully.

      • Jim Treacher — Still doesn’t make it right for the right wing to have a meltdown over Psy’s comments and blame Obama.

It’s okay to hate America, as long as a Republican is president.

          • Jim Treacher — Sounds like you are chewing on sour grapes. If I recall correctly, George Bush was reviled by many, so much that shoes were thrown at him in Iraq. Psy’s comments were despicable, but Ted Nugent and others have said hateful things in the name of conservatism, to which you have ALL been silent.

          • JimTreacher

Sounds like you’re upset that someone would dare to criticize Obama.

          • Jim Treacher — YAWN. Clearly you don’t know anything about my positions. I have been critical of President Obama many, many times. Please don’t get it twisted. It seems the founder of the Daily Caller and his right wing buddies stop at nothing to spew hypocritical venom every time they speak.
