SETTING A GOOD EXAMPLE: According to Sports Illustrated, at least seven NFL players have turned in their guns following Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher horrific murder of his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins and his subsequent suicide outside Arrowhead Stadium. According to the report, at least one player handed over multiple firearms, telling his team’s personnel that he didn’t trust himself with the guns.
Some people may bristle at the thought of curtailing gun rights, but statistics show that the presence of a firearm in the home increases the risk of homicide for women by five times and two-thirds of women killed with guns die in domestic dispute incidents.
