Ex-Convict William Spengler Identified as Webster NY Shooting Suspect Who Killed Two Firefighters, Wounded Two

WEBSTER SHOOTING:  William Spengler, 62, has been identified as the shooting suspect who killed two firefighters Lt. Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka and wounded two others — Theodore Scardino and Joseph Hofstetter. Both men are listed in guarded condition in the intensive care unit at Strong Hospital. William Spengler was arrested for killing his grandmother in 1980 and served time until 1998. His sister is missing, police said. William Spengler was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Ex-Con William Spengler killed two firefighters in Webster NY

Spengler was arrested in 1980 for beating and killing his grandmother. He was convicted in 1981 and served time until 1998. He was on supervised parole until 2006. Police say Spengler was shooting from a berm near the Lake Road home and this was set up as a trap.  A Webster Police officer did exchange fire with a shooter. The officer was not injured.

Police said several guns found at home of Webster firefighter killer, which are all illegal since he was convicted felon. Another sad day for this country, when not even our firefighters are safe from gun-toting lunatics.
