Fox News is flipping out over CBS political director John Dickerson’s comments urging President Obama to “go for the throat” of the GOP to “cement legacy.”  John Dickerson is also a chief political correspondent for Slate and that’s where the article appeared, with harsh words for the Republican Party, which some believe is well-deserved. From John Dickerson’s vantage point, the only thing for President Obama to do is obliterate his Republican adversaries if he wants to transform American politics.

“There’s no indication that the president’s clashes with House Republicans will end soon,” Dickerson wrote. “The president who came into office speaking in lofty terms about bipartisanship and cooperation can only cement his legacy if he destroys the GOP. If he wants to transform American politics, he must go for the throat.”  Dickerson went on to describe the strategy of picking off and cultivating a few Republican allies as “the old way.”

“Obama’s only remaining option is to pulverize,” Dickerson said. He wrote that Obama’s attempt to build a “post-partisan” Washington didn’t work, and in his second term Obama has the chance to “hasten the demise of the old order” of the GOP by “increasing the political cost of having the GOP coalition defined by Second Amendment absolutists, climate science deniers, supporters of ‘self-deportation’ and the pure no-tax wing.”  Source

    Janet:

If we start off with the assumption that your primary consideration is the Development Of Black People – through politics/public policy –

IF we look at the places where Black people live in high concentrations and thus – THERE IS NO STRONG REPUBLICAN THREAT…..

Can you look around the nation with these two points in mind and FINE any Black community that has “WON the Battle with the Republicans” and are thriving after making absolute gains in:

    * Public Education that is educating and graduating our young people

    * Local Economic Development – that is employing our people substantially

    * Safe Communities that protect Black people from the “Klan-like attacks”, regardless of if the Klan or someone from the inside of the community is doing the attacking

DO YOU SEE JANET – it is clear that YOU and many Black Progressives are hellbent on “Battling the Republicans” and using attrition to tip the balance.

I do not believe that you can consider that that what is POPULAR with Black people might not be what DEVELOPS THE BLACK COMMUNITY – in line with the VALUABLES that Black people have invested.

It is when you listen to Black people (on the radio) who express frustration of their current condition DESPITE the political “wins” – BUT they can’t consider if someone is USING BLACK PEOPLE by keeping issues that play on this hatred of the Right wing rather than a disciplined focus on the KEY INTERESTS OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY.
