On the same day South African paralympian Oscar Pistorius was charged with murder after he fatally shooting girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, Monty Python’s John Cleese sent a tweet that raised eyebrows:
Oscar’s defence will be that he was absolutely legless at the time.

While I believe John Cleese’s “legless” comment was a pun, it can be considered very insensitive to the family of Reeva Steenkamp.
Joan Rivers also sent out a similar tweet that was met with a great deal of criticism:
Been reading about the murder charges facing Oscar Pistorius. I hope it doesn’t make it to trial…he doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

Separately, a bloody cricket bat was reportedly found in Oscar Pistorious’ home and there are reports the model was shot in her hip first and then ran to the bathroom, where she was shot multiple times.
