Retired Marine Todd North was killed, five others injured in Flyers bar shooting in Havelock early Sunday morning. Police said Todd North was trying to shield other people from gunfire when he was shot. He later died at an area hospital.
Todd North shot the shooter, identified as Jonathan Richard Pugh, is currently hospitalized. The shooting occurred after a fight broke out in the Flyers bar, in the 400 block of Fontana Boulevard. Bar staff escorted several people outside because of the fight and a short time later, Pugh started shooting at people who were in the bar.
Jonathan Richard Pugh is charged with one count of murder. Two handguns were recovered from the scene.
