Oracle CEO Larry Ellison Says NSA Surveillance is “Absolutely Essential”

Tech billionaire Oracle CEO Larry Ellison tells CBS News’ Charlie Rose that the NSA surveillance  is “absolutely essential.”

Ellison said government surveillance is essential “if we want to minimize the kind of strikes that we just had in Boston. It’s absolutely essential.” He also talked about credit card companies having access to the financial records of their customers. Ellison said, “This whole issue of privacy is utterly fascinating to me. Who’s ever heard of this information being misused by the government? In what way?”

When Charlie Rose asked Ellison where his “red line” on government surveillance would be, he said he would draw the line at political targeting, saying, “If the Democrats used it to go after Republicans. If the Republicans used it to go after Democrats.” “In other words, if we stop looking for terrorists and we started looking for people on the other side of the aisle.”
