SHOCK: Maria Carmen Dominguez died after a gun fell from a pile of clothing she and a coworker at the Unique Thrift Shop were sorting through and discharged, hitting her in the chest.

NBC Chicago reports, 54-year-old Maria Carmen Dominguez was killed when a .22-caliber pistol fell out of a sock and discharged. Her coworkers reportedly tried to catch the gun before it could strike the floor, but the hooked the trigger instead, causing it to discharge.

The shooting is being treated as a workplace accident by Chicago police and labor officials. No charges have been filed.
