The Cleveland police are appealing for an emergency suspension of Ohio’s open carry laws ahead of the GOP convention set to start on Monday.

The plea comes in the wake of a Baton Rouge police shooting that left three officers dead and three injured after they responded to a call of shots fired.

Cleveland Police Union president Stephen Loomis told CNN, “We are sending a letter to Gov. Kasich requesting assistance from him. He could very easily do some kind of executive order or something — I don’t care if it’s constitutional or not at this point.”
