Donald Trump Insults Puerto Again by Threatening to Cut Off Hurricane Relief Aid

Donald Trump insults Puerto Rico again, this time threatening to cut off hurricane relief efforts to the island, which would mean a total abandonment of a U.S. territory in the midst of a staggering humanitarian crisis. At least 90 percent still have no power.

Trump sent out a series of heartless tweets attacking the island. “Puerto Rico survived the Hurricanes, now a financial crisis looms largely of their own making,” says Sharyl Attkisson. “A total lack of accountability say the Governor. Electric and all infrastructure was disaster before hurricanes. Congress to decide how much to spend.”

“We cannot keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been amazing (under the most difficult circumstances) in P.R. forever!”

You will recall during his visit to the island, which was nothing more than a photo op, Trump threw rolls of paper towel into a crowd at a San Juan church. He also insulted San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz as “nasty” and having “poor leadership,” while she waded in chest high brown water to help her people. He also said Hurricane Maria wasn’t a “real catastrophe” like Hurricane Katrina. Anyone who thinks this man isn’t a racist should think again….

He is acting as though the U.S. government is his new company. We cannot continue helping Puerto Rico, but we can continue paying his company to rent golf carts so the Secret Service can protect him while he plays another round of golf, right? It’s totally okay for Mike Pence to use taxpayer dollars for a political stunt aimed at NFL players kneeling during the anthem.
