Hi-Five Singer Russell Neal Being Held on $100K Bond for Wife’s Murder

Hi-Five singer Russell Neal is being held on $100,000 bond in the murder of his 24-year-old wife, Catherine Martinez. KHOU reports Neal went to a local jail and told cops his wife was dead in their apartment and he needed a lawyer.

Martinez, an aspiring boxer, was found dead in their apartment on Wednesday from multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma.

Russell Neal and Catherine Martinez, who goes by the name Brasilia, have two children, but they were not in the apartment at the time she was killed.

Trung T. Le ID’d as Suspect in Bourbon Street Shooting That Killed Brittany Thomas

New Orleans police have identified the Bourbon Street shooting suspect as Trung T. Le, also known as “Joe.” Le is suspected of firing the first shot in a gunfight on Bourbon Street last weekend that killed 21-year-old Brittany Thomas, who was struck in the back of the head as she fled the shooting.

Trung T. Le was arrested Friday afternoon in Mississippi. He will be extradited to Louisiana, where he faces one charge of first-degree murder and nine charges of attempted first-degree murder.

NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas said Le faces with one count of first-degree murder and nine counts of attempted murder.

Serpas warned, “We know who Trung T. Le’s associates are. This is not a hollow statement. We have routinely charged individuals who give aid or assistance to fugitives and we will continue to do so,” the Times-Picayune reports.

Nine other people were wounded in the Bourbon Street shooting.

SHOCK:  Cheyanne Bond, a 17-year-old cheerleader, who shot execution style while walking along South 17th Street in Newark Sunday night, just two weeks after graduation.

WCBS reports a 17-year-old boy was also shot, but is expected to survive.

Cheyanne’s uncle, Michael Bond, told WCBS, “They told her to get on her knees and they shot her in the head execution style.” “Just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Newark police are looking for clues in Cheyanne Bond’s murder.

The shooting happened nine days after Cheyanne Bond graduated from Malcolm X Shabazz High School. Her friends said she had planned to go to college and become a nurse.

2-Year-Old Kamiya Gross Shot Dead, 2 Others Wounded, as ‘Payback’ for April Club Shooting

Detroit Gun Violence:  2-year-old Kamiya Gross was shot and killed at point blank range, two others, including a 12-year-old girl critically wounded, during a triple shooting in Inkster, Mich., Tuesday night.

Kamiya Gross’ father, Kenneth French, was also shot. He’s listed in stable condition. The other girl shot has been identified as 12-year-old Chelsea Lancaster, a friend of the French family.

Andy Anderson told the  Detroit Free Press that a man walked up to children playing in the yard and first shot the toddler at close range. He said the man turned the gun and started shooting on the porch.

Raymone Bernard Jackson, the suspected gunman was arrested before noon on Wednesday. Inkster Police Chief Hilton Napoleon suggested that the shooting may have been retaliation for a shooting in April at a nightclub that left three people, including the suspected gunman, wounded. Kenneth French was reportedly present at the club at the time of the shooting.

Raymone Bernard Jackson was charged with first-degree murder, torture, assault with intent to murder, felonious assault, felon in possession and felony firearm, DetNews reports.

2-Year-Old Girl Killed in Triple Shooting in Inkster MI

Detroit Gun Violence: A 2-year-old girl was killed, a 12-year-old in critical condition and a 30-year-old man wounded in a triple shooting at the Parkside Estates apartment complex in Inkster, Mich.

The toddler, who has not been identified, was shot in the head, while the man was shot in the stomach and the 12-year-old shot in the leg.

Lt. Mike Shaw, public information officer, said the shooter fired multiple times at three people who were outside the home around 8:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Police have no motive in the shooting and no suspect(s) in custody. A witness said two men in a white van drove around a cul-de-sac nearby before returning and opening fire, Detroit News reports.

SHOCK:  John Bieniewicz, an adult recreation league soccer referee, died after being punched in the head by an irate player, identified as Baseel Abdul-Amir Saad.

Livonia Police say Bieniewicz died on Tuesday, after sustaining the blow to his head on Sunday at Mies Park. He had just ejected Saad from the game when disgruntled player attacked him, WXYZ reports.

Baseel Abdul-Amir Saad, who was arraigned on Monday, was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm. Those charges could be upgraded now that John Bieniewicz has died.

John Bieniewicz, who was a dialysis technician at Mott Children’s Hospital, leaves behind a wife and two sons.

MURDER:  Queens dad, Boujeke Kenmoe was charged with second degree murder for the strangling death of his 8-year-old son, who was identified as Jerry.

Boujeke Kenmoe was hospitalized after trying to slit his wrists.

Police have not released a motive in the murder of the boy, but the landlord told the NY Daily News, Boujeke Kenmoe and his wife, “fight a lot.” He said, “They get loud and have lot of disagreements. The fights were verbal and very loud.” Adding, Kenmoe “was a good guy.”

Violent Weekend:  Three people were shot, one killed near a recreation center playground in the Edgewood neighborhood of Baltimore, the Baltimore Sun reports. Two suspects fled the scene and are still at large.

This comes as 20 people were shot in all five boroughs of New York City over the weekend. Three people were killed including Jason Bragg, 33, who was gunned down in Cambria Heights Saturday night. A 10 year old boy and a male adult were shot in Coney Island on Saturday. The man is listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the stomach. The boy was shot in the knee.

Among those shot in New York City, were five teenagers at Fifth Avenue and West 139th Street.

Two gunmen opened fire early Sunday morning on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, wounding nine people, two critically, before they fled the scene. New Orleans Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said “These two cowardly young men chose to settle a dispute with total disregard for human life,” the Times-Picayune reports.

Separately, Lance Cpl. Jonathan Price was fatally shot as he and his wife, Megan Price, were leaving her birithday celebration at a Lexington, KY, bar, when they were attacked by two gunmen, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports.

One person was killed, four others wounded in an early morning shooting at a BET Awards pre-party in East Hollywood. The LA Times reports the gunman fled after firing several rounds at the Monalizza restaurant and banquet hall located in the 1100 block of North Vernon Avenue.

The restaurant manager said the shooting occurred on the patio. The gunman is still at large.

The Black Entertainment Television Awards is scheduled to be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Three newly released search warrants show that Justin Harris, who was charged with murder after his infant son, Cooper Harris, was found dead inside his SUV, researched child deaths inside vehicles. Police have said this isn’t just a case of negligence, but there’s more to this that leads them to believe it’s a case of murder.

Justin Ross Harris is being held without bond at the Cobb County jail since June 19, hours after his 22-month-old son was pronounced dead in an Akers Mills Road shopping center parking lot. Harris was also charged with second degree child cruelty.

The newly released search warrant reads, “during an interview with Justin, he stated that he recently researched, through the internet, child deaths inside vehicles and what temperature it needs to be for that to occur.””Justin stated that he was fearful that this could happen.”

The documents were released hours before the toddler’s funeral in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. The search warrants also revealed Harris’ 2011 Hyundai Tuscon was seized, as well as his cell phone and his home computer, laptop and other electronic devices were also searched.
