Raja Fayad, a Lebanese cancer researcher, was killed in a murder-suicide on the campus of the University of South Carolina on Thursday.
Fayad, 45, is the graduate director and an expert in colon cancer. He was killed at the Public Health Research Center. This was the first multiple shooting at the site in 30 years.
Neighbors say Raja Fayad completed his MD in Syria before migrating to the U.S. He had recently ended a “stormy relationship” with his girlfriend, with whom he had been living. The State reports he had moved out to be with another woman.
