MI Judge Wade McCree Says He ‘Lusted After’ Mistress Geniene La’Shay Mott, Offered to Pay for Abortion (Attribution Unknown)

Wayne County, Mich., judge Wade McCree is a poster child for using poor judgement and abusing his position. He testified during his misconduct hearing Tuesday about his affair with Geniene La’Shay Mott, who appeared before him as a witness in a child-support case in his court last year. McCree gave the woman his card ‘via a deputy in the courtroom and she later called his number,’ Click on Detroit reports. He admitted to having sex with the woman in his chambers.

One big problem with his affair — Wade McCree is a married man. His wife, LaVerne McCree, also testified Tuesday.  Apparently, Geniene La’Shay Mott also became pregnant for the judge, who wanted her to have an abortion. It also shows poor judgment since Wade McCree is a married man engaging in unprotected sex with his jump-off.

“It became a whole lot more — as it did involve intimate relations,” he said. McCree described Mott as a woman of emotion, one minute riding on happiness and euphoria and another minute diving into “homicidal anger.” ”I had to do things to pacify her,” he said. McCree said that Mott had told him she had dated married men before and knew how the relationship would be handled. But McCree said Mott pressured him for more.

“Whatever time I had, she always wanted more,” he said. Despite their relationship, he continued to oversee the case against the father of Mott’s child. The Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission says his actions were irresponsible and eroded the public’s confidence. The Commission issued a 20-page misconduct complaint against McCree in March.

LaVerne McCree also took to the stand to talk about her husband’s affair. She said her husband confessed to her, saying he was going to break off the relationship and wanted to stay married. LaVerne McCree said an agreement was made between her husband and Mott — that he would pay for an abortion. The bottom-line is that Wade McCree abused his position as a judge and he should be removed from the bench for that reason. That’s from the position that he engaged in a sexual relationship with someone who appeared before him in his courtroom. That’s mixing business with pleasure. That’s reckless conduct. Judge Wade McCree risked his entire career for a romp in the same with someone other than his wife. It is also very troubling that once bragged, “there is no shame in my game,” when he sent a shirtless photograph of himself to a Wayne County Sheriff’s Office employee. Well, the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission begs to differ, saying:

“Respondent may not think that there’s any shame in his game,” said Margaret Rynier, associate examiner with the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission, at the start of his trial at Washtenaw County Circuit Court on Monday. “He shamed the bench. He shamed the legal profession. He violated the code of the judicial conduct and violated the law.”

Michael Winans Jr., Member of Winans Gospel Music Family, Sentenced to 165 Months in Ponzi Scheme

Michael Winans Jr., a member of gospel music’s first family, the Winans, was sentenced to nearly 14 years in prison for an $8 million Ponzi scheme that was promoted in church pulpits. According to MyFoxDetroit, two of Michael Winans Jr.’s victims spoke in federal court Wednesday, telling a judge that the scheme to sell Saudi Arabian oil bonds robbed some people of their life savings, caused divorces and fractured many families.

“I want to apologize to everyone. … These were decisions that were negligent and irresponsible,” said Winans, of Jessup, Md.

He said he had no “malicious intent” but acknowledged that he continued to collect money even after he learned that the bonds were bogus.

Winans attracted more than 1,000 investors in 2007 and 2008, although he didn’t know them all because many were recruited by others through word of mouth. He promised 100 percent returns in two months, then used the money for personal expenses or to pay off earlier investors. About 600 people are still owed $4.7 million. Source

Michael Winans Jr., 30, is the son of Michael Winans Sr., a members of the The Winans quartet of brothers.  People, you have to learn not to fall for these scams. No-one should promise you a 100 percent return on an investment and you fall for it. It’s a scam.

DISGRACE:  Ex-Michigan Supreme Court justice Diane Hathaway pleaded guilty to bank fraud Tuesday in Ann Arbor federal court. She faces up to 1 1/2 years in prison under the terms of a deal with prosecutors.

Prosecutors say Diane Hathaway and her husband transferred a debt-free Florida home to a relative so that they’d qualify to short sell a Grosse Pointe Park home that carried a big mortgage. After they unloaded the Michigan property in a 2011 short sale, the Florida property was transferred back to them. Source

This pales in comparison to the mess syndicated radio show host and Debt Stoppers partner Warren Ballentine finds himself in, but it’s disgraceful that someone charged with upholding the law could engage in such behavior.

City of Detroit Could be Heading for Managed Bankruptcy

The city of Detroit could be heading for bankruptcy, a sad turn of events in its struggle to gain financial footing, as the city has been gripped by record unemployment and foreclosure rates:

Detroit News:  Even as the state Treasury prepares to begin another financial review of Detroit’s books, a plan is being solidified in the governor’s office that would guide Michigan’s largest city through what is being called a managed bankruptcy.

The working concept, still evolving, assumes that the state’s financial review would find severe financial distress in Detroit, that Mayor Dave Bing and City Council would be unable to push through overdue restructuring, and that the process would culminate in appointment of an emergency financial manager under Public Act 72.

The case would be filed under Chapter 9 of the federal bankruptcy code, according to two ranking sources familiar with the situation, following efforts to reach prenegotiated settlements with as many key creditors — unions, vendors and pension funds among them — as possible before any filing.
