Ann Romney is either bitter about her husband losing the presidential election, or someone forgot to tell her the campaign is over and she’s really not relevant anymore. She blasted President Obama Monday night during an appearance on Piers Morgan’s show saying that she “didn’t think he was telling the truth’ over healthcare reforms.  Um, yeah, we don’t think her husband was truthful about many things during his presidential campaign.

Ann Romney said: ‘Two weeks before … things started to gnaw at me a little bit. Obviously, we had the hurricane, Hurricane Sandy, that was taking all the attention off the election onto, you know, the president performing.’

She also said of President Obama, “He’s put himself in a very sticky place because you either have to think that he was not telling the truth or he’s grossly incompetent.” When asked by Piers Morgan which she believed, she said, “a little bit of both” and added “I dont think he was telling the truth.””The basic credibility of the President is at jeopardy.” Kinda like her husband’s credibility after the 47 percent remark.

Ann Romney feigns poverty during speech at Republican National Convention, says: “Our desk was a door propped up on sawhorses. Our dining room table was a fold down ironing board in the kitchen.” Um, that’s while they both had stock portfolios. So much for poverty. Under Mitt Romney, she said Massachusetts schools were the best in the nation. Could someone please fact check her statement. Ann Romney closed by saying, “You can trust Mitt. He loves America. He will take us to a better place, just as he took me home safely from that dance.” Excuse me while I throw up. So much for Barack and Michelle Obama hating America so much that they wanted to lead it as president and first lady. No, just trust Mitt, he has our backs — like his sidekick Paul Ryan.

To be fair, Ann Romney delivered a good speech and tried to paint her husband in as humane as possible. Don’t know if it worked, since Mitt Romney says “I am who I am,” channeling Popeye. I actually think she overshadowed her husband quite a bit and we are no closer to liking Mitt Romney than we were yesterday morning. I am no big fan of Mitt Romney, but Ann Romney is a likable person.

Here’s an interesting take from The New York Times;

Ann Romney is so gifted at politics, she may actually make her husband look a little bad. Their personality gap — her ease, his discomfort — has been evident in most of the many joint interviews they have given television reporters.

But it really stood out during her bold, boisterous testimonial to him at the Republican convention on Tuesday night. She was electric — when Mitt Romney came to her side at the end, he somehow sapped the energy from the moment.

From Peggy Noonan, former Reagan speech writer:

“Ann Romney was stunning, sweet, full of enthusiasm, a little shy, a little game for the battle. Her speech was fine. … I have just spent the past two and a half days talking to people who’ve known Mitt Romney well for ten, twenty and thirty years, even more. They love him, and in all their conversations they say either literally or between the lines, ‘If only you knew him like I do.’ It is their mantra. They mean it, and they are so frustrated. … [I]really is a bit of a mystery. If he’s so good why can’t his goodness be communicated? …

Awww,  Mitt Romney irons his clothes and shops at Costco. Give me a break. Is that to show that he’s one of us? Really? Ann Romney is trying too hard to pass her husband as Joe Six Pack. He’s not. Look, I personally like Mitt Romney and I believe he earned his money fair and square, but please don’t grovel for acceptance.  Would this be the same Mitt Romney who dropped $500,000 for Journey to perform at the Republican Convention this week? All Romney has to do is show us what he will do to fix the economy and stand up for women’s rights. Oh, I’m sorry, the extremist faction of the Republican Party, namely the social conservatives and Tea Party wingnuts are wreaking havoc on the party and forcing Mitt Romney to take a position other than his moderate stance on many issues.

Ann Romney said her husband ironed his own clothing the morning of their interview from the couple’s New Hampshire lake home and had done his own laundry the night before.

She also said he routinely cooked dinner and grocery shopped when her multiple sclerosis flared severely.

But when it comes to Costco, Mitt Romney isn’t the only one with a thing for the low-cost, bulk retailer.

“It’s great. Are you kidding? Have you ever been to it?” Ann Romney said in their interview, where she disclosed she has the whole Costco experience down to a science.

“I know how to shop Costco. You go in the door — I don’t want everyone to learn this trick — you go in the door, you take a sharp right and you go way down to the back of the store and just shop the outside of the aisles, and boom, boom, boom,” she said. Source

One one hand, Ann Romney is portraying her husband as Mr. Mom and on the other hand, he’s portraying himself as “Popeye the Sailor Man” with his “I am who I am” line. I have been pretty tough on Mitt Romney, particularly since he chose “Throw Momma from the Train” Tea Party darling Paul Ryan as his running mate, who has had a questionable record on women’s rights. You see, if I were to vote for Mitt Romney and he wins, becomes incapacitated, then we would have Todd Akin’s buddy as our president and no telling what he would do.

Mitt Romney: “I Didn’t Even Know About That Bermuda Company”

Now Mitt Romney says he didn’t know that he has offshore funds in a Bermuda company.  Sounds like everything else in his campaign and where he stands on the issues — “I didn’t know.” He disavowed any responsibility for his investments in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda, saying his personal finances are part of a “blind trust” that’s out of his control. Really? This all reminds me of singer Shaggy’s song, “It Wasn’t Me.” Sorry Mittens, I know you weren’t blindfolded when you signed your tax returns.

“I don’t manage them, I don’t even know where they are,” Romney told Radio Iowa Monday of his investment portfolio. “That trustee follows all U.S. laws, all taxes are paid as appropriate, all of them have been reported to the government. There’s nothing hidden there.” Source

So, let me get this straight, Mitt Romney didn’t know the 12,000 shares he transferred to his wife’s blind trust the day before he was sworn in as governor were in a Bermuda company? How did he know what he was transferring? All the more reason why one has to wonder how qualified he is to run this country, if he can’t remember what he transferred. He has something to hide, hence his reluctance to release more than one year’s worth of tax returns. Mitt Romney is lying. He knows exactly where his money is invested. If he doesn’t he shouldn’t even be running for the presidency because that means he will sign whatever they put in front of him.

Here’s Shaggy’s video to “It Wasn’t Me:”

MSNBC Guest Michelle Goldberg Calls Ann Romney “Insufferable,” Mocks Op-Ed on Motherhood as Creepy

Ann Romney criticized again and the right wing will go crazy. During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Up With Chris Hayes,” Daily Beast’s Michelle Goldberg calls Ann Romney insufferable and mocked her op-ed about motherhood as “creepy.”

MICHELLE GOLDBERG: “I mean, it can’t only be me that maybe inititally saw Ann Romney as maybe a sympathetic or neutral figure but who is increasingly seeing her as someone who is kind of insufferable because of the way she’s milking this thing. And, you know, in a lot of ways the op-ed was totally anodyne, right? You know, yes, motherhood is beautiful. I find that phrase, “the crown of motherhood” really kind of creepy. Not just because of its, like, somewhat, you know, I mean it’s kind of usually really authoritarian societies that give out, like, the Cross of Motherhood.”

You will recall Hilary Rosen came under fire for saying Ann Romney never had a job outside her home so she couldn’t speak for women juggling a family and working outside the home, along with the economic issues they are confronted with. Um, why is Ann Romney still talking about her choice to become a stay-at-home mom? We get it. That was her choice and women who work outside the home also have economic issues she has no inkling about, so why is she still trying to milk the Hilary Rosen controversy? Insufferable is right.

Michelle Goldberg issued a half-apology for allegedly comparing Ann Romney to Hitler:

Reaction to her apology on Twitter:

First Lady Michelle Obama was called every name in the book by the right wing, but I suppose that was okay because it was the right attacking the left. Ann Romney is fair game and not exempt from being called out.

Mitt Romney Says Welfare Moms “Need Dignity of Work” Even If They Have Young Children

Boston Globe: Mitt Romney  “he insisted as recently as January that women on welfare need to get jobs, even if they have young children.” This is the same person who  last week declared that “all moms are working moms.”

Mitt Romney on Welfare Moms: “Even if you have a child two years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, ‘Well that’s heartless,’ and I said ‘No, no, I’m willing to spend more giving daycare to allow those parents to go back to work. It’ll cost the state more providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.’”

Ann Romney, Who Has Never Worked Outside the Home, is No Expert on Women and the Economy

Ann Romney is now the face of the Republican Party. Um, this is a woman, who has never held a job outside the home, but yet she’s wants to appeal to working class women. Really? What does she know about juggling work and family or even balancing a checkbook under tough financial constraints? Most of us on Main Street have literally been robbing Peter to pay Paul in this tough economic climate and the last thing we need to hear from is someone who has led a life of privilege, telling you they know how you feel and can speak for you.  Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with the life she led, but she isn’t representative of most women in America. It’s preposterous to offer Ann Romney as a surrogate on women’s issues when it’s quite obvious she has led a sheltered and privileged life.

It’s pretty ironic that Mitt Romney campaign didn’t think much of Ann Romney’s impact on social media from the start, only to create a Twitter account (@AnnDRomney) for her when she was criticized by DNC adviser Hilary Rosen,  (@hilaryr) who told CNN’s Anderson Cooper, “Guess what, his wife has actually never worked a day in her life.” The Obama campaign has repudiated Hilary Rosen’s comments with David Axelrod saying, ““Also disappointed in Hilary Rosen’s comments about Ann Romney. They were inappropriate and offensive.”

Ann Romney’s first tweet:  “I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work.”

Yeah, I’m sure it was hard work and family should be off-limits in any campaign, but Mitt Romney is trying to paint her as some expert for women. That’s where he’s asking for trouble. Ann Romney isn’t the face of struggling American women. If the truth be told, neither is Michelle Obama. It’s quite simple, Mitt Romney needs to back off of saying Ann Romney is his expert on women and the economy. She has zero credibility on either front.  Mitt Romney has an enormous problem connecting with women, so much so that his campaign stumbled on recognizing and taking a firm position on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act during a recent conference call.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for stay-at-home moms. It’s hard raising kids and managing a household, but it’s much harder for women who work outside their homes, juggle a family and run a household too. It’s magnified tenfold for single parents, mainly women. Further, judging from the furor on social media about Hilary Rosen’s comments, do we have a Jew vs. a Mormon dogfight underway?

Greta Van Susteren offers her position on furor, says her friend Hilary Rosen, who is also a mother (though some are now throwing the fact that she is a lesbian in her face), was addressing an economic issue, not attacking stay-at-home moms. All we need now is GLAAD to get involved in this controversy. Hilary Rosen is a single mother of two adopted kids and knows what many single mothers are dealing with on a daily basis, maybe not to a great extent, but in large part. The reality is that all the critics know that’s what Ms. Rosen was saying, but it’s juicier to throw her under a bus. Once again, the Obama administration and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz are throwing another woman under the bus. The ghost of Shirley Sherrod rears its head.

Drudge Report Eases Attacks on Newt Gingrich, Talks Up Ann Romney at Hispanic Conference

Drudge Report eases attacks on Newt Gingrich Friday, talks up Ann Romney at Hispanic conference.  Gingrich was slammed by President John Tyler’s grandson Harrison Tyler, 84, who said “he’s not impressed with the state of politics today and particularly thinks Newt Gingrich is a “big jerk” for his three marriages,” Politico reports.

Is Matt Drudge a Mitt Romney supporter? Well, he’s pushing this link today:  Romney wife wows crowd at Hispanic conference…

The Drudge Report dings Callista Gingrich for her silence: Callista remains silent…

Let’s be realistic, who can take Newt Gingrich and his one-time-jump-off serious? They aren’t the moral compass of the U.S.

I take that back. The Drudge Report did go after Newt Gingrich in the lead story. Newt: Romney at Debate “Most Dishonest in History.” In other words, he’s mocking Newt Gingrich. I guess I can’t blame him because Newt Gingrich is an incredible hypocrite and a sore loser. He can dish it but he can’t take it. Like his homegirl Sarah Palin.
