40 Shot, 4 Killed Including 11-Year-Old Shamiya Adams, in Chicago Weekend Violence

About 40 people were shot, four killed in Chicago weekend violence. At least 18 people were shot in a little more than 12 hours overnight, bringing the total to 40 since Friday afternoon, NBC News reports.

Among the victims was 11-year-old Shamiya Adams, who was gunned down inside a Chicago home during a sleepover, after a stray bullet struck her, police said.

A 24-year-old man was shot in a bar on Chicago’s Southwest Side early Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the chest.

A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times as he and a woman got into a cab in the 900 block of North Mayfield Avenue. He was later pronounced dead at the West Suburban Medical Center. A 30-year-0ld man was found dead in a car in the South Austin neighborhood. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back, shoulder and neck.

The weekend hasn’t come to a close yet. I suspect there will be more violence in the Windy City.

11-Year-Old Shamiya Adams Dies After Being Shot in Head During Sleepover

TRAVESTY:  11-year-old Shamiya Adams died after being shot in the head during a sleepover at her best friend’s home in the 3900 block of West Gladys Avenue in Chicago.

Adams and a group of her friends were set to make s’mores during a sleepover Friday night when a bullet came through the window and struck her in the head, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Rosemarie Jones, who hosted the sleepover, said the girls were sitting in a circle when “gunshots rang out and one came in through the window and shot one of the girls in the head.”

It is reprehensible that Shamiya Adams was gunned down at a sleepover. What is going on in Chicago? The mayor should institute Martial Law. How many more children have to die at the hands of a bunch of armed thugs before something drastic is done?

Chicago Park Shooters ID’d as Tabari Young, Brad Jett, Bryon Champ & Kewane Gatewood

The four suspects in the Cornell Square Park shooting identified as  Tabari Young and Brad Jett, both 22, Bryon Champ, 21, and Kewane Gatewood, 20. Tabari Young is the alleged gunman.

All four Chicago Park shooters have been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, the Chicago Tribune reports.

It seems that Tabari Young’s mother is making excuses for his criminal behavior. She told the Chicago Tribune that while her son is a transient, “he’s a good boy. It’s just that he gets caught up … because there’s no work.”

There is no reason for her son to have shot a three-year-old child and then excuse should reprehensible behavior as being out of work.

Bryon Champ is a convicted felony and a known-gang member. He was convicted of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon last year and was sentenced to boot camp. He didn’t need boot camp. He needed to do some hard time behind bars.
