Sarah Palin Fails to Dazzle Global Investors in Hong Kong, Criticized President Obama Causing Two U.S. Delegates to Walk Out

sarah+palin+hong+kong Sarah Palin Fails to Dazzle Global Investors in Hong Kong, Criticized President Obama Causing Two U.S. Delegates to Walk Out Sarah Palin/Hong Kong
Once again, Wasilla’s own Sarah Palin has proven that she’s too ignorant to be taken seriously. This time, she gave her “speech” to a group of global investors in Hong Kong about her views from “Main Street USA.” This speech was billed as a wide-ranging talk about governance, economics and U.S. and Asian affairs. Er, that’s not Sarah Palin’s forte, so it was rather comical to read about her presentation, which is rumored to have bagged her a fee in the low six figures.

According to AFP, two U.S. delegates left early, with one saying “it was awful, we couldn’t stand it any longer.” Wow, that’s a vote of confidence for the former governor, don’t you think so? Of course, she probably has no clue about the slap on the cheek as a result of these two delegates’ actions. “I’m going to call it like I see it and I will share with you candidly a view right from Main Street, Main Street U.S.A.,” Palin told a room full of asset managers and other finance professionals, according to a media reports. “And how perhaps my view of Main Street … how that affects you and your business.” People we are talking about Wasilla, Alaska. That is vastly different from Main Street New York, for that matter.

Palin spoke out against government intervention in the economy. “We got into this mess because of government interference in the first place,” Palin said, according to the Wall Street Journal. “We’re not interested in government fixes, we’re interested in freedom,” she added. She also praised the conservative economic policies of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, according to another attendee who declined to be named because he didn’t want to be seen as speaking on behalf of his company. She claimed that if taxes were cut and the capital gains tax and estate tax eliminated, the world would “watch the U.S. economy roar back to life.”

Palin argued that many average Americans are uncomfortable with health care reforms that infringe on private enterprise, Chris Palmer, an American fund manager for Gartmore Investment Ltd., told reporters. She didn’t refer to President Barack Obama by name, the Wall Street Journal reported, but said she called his campaign promises “nebulous, utopian sounding… Now 10 months later, though, a lot of Americans are asking: more government? Is that the change we want?” Source: AFP

Of course, that certainly wasn’t the place to attack your president and some attendees reportedly said they were disappointed by her focus on her home state of Alaska and her attacks on Obama. As usual, she was ready to criticize President Obama but “offered no solutions.” Then she managed to insult the Chinese by mentioning China’s ethnic problems, an obvious dig about the tensions between Muslim Uighurs and Han Chinese that have led to riots. She argued that they are “a sign that China lacks mechanisms to deal with regional issues.”

Sorry, but this speech will not help to burnish her international credentials. This Hong Kong trip was an attempt to defray some legal and other bills that she has. If she could diss the president in public, God knows what she would say in private.

Sen. Arlen Specter (D – Pa.) Mocks Town Hall Protesters, Sarah Palin and Viagra in Comedy Appearance at Pittsburgh Improv

Wasn’t Senator Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) the same person who was talked down by an angry constituent at a recent health care town hall meeting? Wow, it’s amazing that he suddenly got his mojo back when he took to the stage at the Pittsburgh Improv on Thursday night to benefit Allegheny county’s Music Festival Fund for children, or maybe, as Joan Specter said, he always loved stand up comedy. He mocks town hall protesters and Sarah “Caribou Barbie” Palin.

Here’s the video of his 2007 appearance at the “Funniest Celebrity in DC Contest:”

Gary Frago, Atwater City Councilman, Sends Racist Emails About President Obama, Says ‘Nigger Rigs’ Should be Called ‘Presidential Solutions’

Gary Frago, Atwater City Councilman, Sends Racist Emails About President Obama, Says Nigger Rigs Should be Called Presidential SolutionsAnother elected official has been caught sending racist emails. According to the Merced Sun-Star, Atwater (Calif.) City Councilman Gary Frago has sent at least a half-dozen e-mails to city staff and other prominent community members containing racist jokes aimed at President Barack Obama, his wife and black people in general. Some of the emails, sent from October 2008 to February 2009, compared President Obama to O. J. Simpson and others suggested that “nigger rigs” should now be called “presidential solutions.” Get this, the most hurtful email was reportedly sent on January 15 and read: “Breaking News Playboy just offered Sarah Palin $1 million to pose nude in the January issue. Michelle Obama got the same offer from National Geographic.” Wow. That’s just mean-spirited and down right racist. Mr. Frago admitted sending the e-mails, but showed no regret. He told the Sun-Star,”If they’re from me, then I sent them,” he said. “I have no disrespect for the president or anybody, they weren’t meant in any bad way or harm.” Really? They seem racist to me and the last thing an “ELECTED” official needs to engage is in race baiting.

The list of people who either sent or received the e-mails reads like a who’s who of Atwater community and political leadership, including a county supervisor, a former police chief, a city manager, a former city council member, a former president of a veterans group, a former grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, among others. All the jokes that Frago sent originated from others, the e-mails show. Those who could be identified were Bob Rieger, a retired Atwater city works employee; Michael McIntyre, a Merced resident; and Lee Aldridge, a retired Air Force colonel in Alabama. Most of the recipients said they do not recall receiving the e-mails and several of the senders either do not remember sending them or claim they were not meant to be harmful.

While recent racial barriers have been broken — such as the election of a black president — and most outright racial and prejudice is not acceptable in public, local civil rights activists and others believe the e-mails illustrate the racism that lingers behind some doors assumed to be closed in Atwater and America.

Frago, 63, who was the city’s first paid firefighter and has been on the City Council since 2000, said the e-mails were not meant to harm anyone. He has nothing against black people or the president, he said.”I don’t see where there’s a story, I’m not the only one that does it,” he said. “I didn’t originate them, they came to me and I just passed them on.” Source: Merced Sun-Star

You may not be able to control everything that comes into your email inbox to some degree, but you can delete racist emails and not forward them to all your friends. This is just hateful and it is a sad commentary on where we are as a people on race issues. The scourge of racism is still ingrained in our society and it is a tragedy. How can the United States set itself on a pedestal as the leader of the free world, but yet we have such hate mongering and race baiting still occurring everyday? Pat Buchanan has called Judge Sonia Sotomayor a racist, an Affirmative Action baby, unpublished, among other hurtful things he has said about this woman. In the grand scheme of things, this is a sad commentary. Councilman Frago should resign from his position, given the fact that he is unrepentant for his actions. There is no room in an elected office for such behavior.

Where Did President Obama’s Pitch Land Last Night at the All-Star Game?

obamafirst1 Where Did President Obamas Pitch Land Last Night at the All Star Game?Okay, I will be the first to admit, I am not a baseball fan, I am more a soccer person, but where did President Barack Obama’s pitch land at the All-Star game last night? Was it a strike or wasn’t it? I have to ask why didn’t the network choose a better location to shoot from? All the networks preempted their regular broadcasts to show that ceremonial first pitch and I was a little let down not being able to see where it landed. Well, Albert Pujols said that the pitch didn’t hit the ground, so I guess that may put this mini-controversy to rest. I guess the least of the president’s worries is his pitch, but the mainstream media will run with this ad nauseaum.

From a historic perspective, I guess the more debatable issue was the reception the President was afforded by the self-described “best fans in baseball.” Though Obama was roundly cheered by the All-Star fans, his live presence still didn’t seem to attract the applause that George W. Bush did during a taped announcement by the four previous Presidents before the game and some boos could even be heard among the cheers. Maybe some fans booed the president because of politics — Missouri voted for John McCain and his sidekick Sarah “Caribou Barbie” Palin and her shadow Todd Palin in the presidential election. Or maybe they booed because of his choice of attire — he chose to wear a long-sleeved White Sox jacket in support of his favorite team and a pair of jeans. That reaction is a little weird, but we’ll see how this turns out.

Here’s some presidential baseball trivia, thanks to the New York Times:

  • Franklin Delano Roosevelt attended the 1937 game and threw out the first pitch from the Presidential Box at Griffith Stadium in D.C.
  • JFK and LBJ attended the 1962 All-Star Game in Washington and called Musial over to their box to congratulate him for getting a hit in the seventh.
  • At the 1970 All-Star Game in Cincinnati, Richard Nixon threw out two first pitches, one each to both of the starting catchers, Bill Freehan and Johnny Bench.
  • Gerald Ford did the same in 1976 — the last time a President threw out a first pitch at the All-Star Game — but topped Nixon by throwing one lefthanded and one righthanded.
  • Ronald Reagan attended the 1989 All-Star Game in Anaheim, but didn’t throw out the first pitch. Instead, the former baseball broadcaster visited the announcer’s booth and was able to call a Wade Boggs’ home run.

So, there you have it in a nutshell, a mini-dustup if you will. Let’s return to the topic at hand, Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation hearings.

Liz Trotta, Fox News Contributor, Turns on Gov. Sarah Palin, Says She’s "Inarticulate, Undereducated"

Fox News contributor Liz Trotta strikes again and this time it’s against Fox News darling Sarah “Caribou Barbie” Palin. In the middle of a segment about Palin’s battle against “liberal” attacks, Ms. Trotta went off-message.

Frankly, “the woman is inarticulate, undereducated,” Trotta said, arguing that for once liberal criticism was “well-deserved.”

“I think all the liberal stylists … really have a case. She just begs for adjectives like flaky and wacky.” When pressed, she added, “We’re talking about somebody who, right from the get-go, has been a flashy person who gets into a lot of trouble and really has no credentials for any job.”

Amen. Sarah Palin can threaten to sue me too! I think her “cut and run” behavior speaks to a deep-rooted inability to complete any task in its entirety. This speaks volumes of the kind of president she would be if she ever hoodwinked people into voting for her. If this is the way you behavior when you aspire for higher office, then she’s a bigger fool than we all thought.

Gov. Sarah Palin Drops Bombshell, To Step Down, from Office by the End of July, is a Scandal Brewing?

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has dropped a bombshell — she’s stepping down from her office effective July 25, 2009. Okay, my first inclination is to say thank God, but there has to be more to this than meets the eye. She has had a myriad of problems since she went back to Alaska after the McCain/Palin team was roundly trounced in the presidential elections. She will transfer power to Lt. Governor Sean Parnell. Sorry, but I smell a rat. A saidGOP strategist said Palin’s ‘inept’ move could seem ’suspicious’ to many; BradBlog now suggests that Palin’s resignation was due to an upcoming Federal indictment for embezzlement and Max Blumenthal of the Daily Beast suggests the same line of reasoning. He said “one logical place to start looking is the affair that has Alaska political circles buzzing: an alleged scandal centered around a building contractor, Spenard Building Supplies, with close ties to Palin and her husband, Todd.

The announcement came on the same week that one of her top public health officials says she was forced out of office because Palin felt she wasn’t in step on social issues. Some people think that her latest move now allows her to avoid the difficult task of running for president while serving as governor. Hmmm. I don’t think so, but who knows. That’s entirely plausible. If President George W. Bush could serve as president for two terms, well, I guess it’s not entirely far-fetched and hilarious that Sarah Palin could entertain such lofty ambitions.

Todd Palin, the “shadow governor,” told their favorite news outlet, FOX News, that his wife will concentrate on “doing the things for Alaska and the country” that she is passionate about and can not do as governor with the limitation and constant opposition she deals with within the state. Right. There’s more to this than they are letting on. I could say good riddance, but knowing this woman, there’s more to this. If this is just a “cut and run” resignation, it speaks volumes about Sarah Palin’s character. You will remember that it took her five colleges in six years to finish her Bachelor’s degree. This speaks volumes that when the chips are down, Sarah Palin will run. So, for all those people who think she would make a good president of the United States, think again.

Calvin Klein Billboard In SoHo Creates Controversy, Shows Four Models in Sexually Suggestive Positions

calvinklein1 Calvin Klein Billboard In SoHo Creates Controversy, Shows Four Models in Sexually Suggestive Positions
Designer Calvin Klein has always pushed the envelope, but this is ridiculous. I first posted the picture on Twitter yesterday to show my readers how degrading this latest racy billboard is. Sarah Palin is hooting and hollering about David Letterman’s comments about her daughter, which were in poor taste, but where’s the outrage for this latest billboard and its obviously degrading portrayal of a young woman? As a former New Yorker, I have seen many billboards, but this one has definitely been the most racy in my opinion. As you can see, the billboard features four partially clad models in a sexually suggestive position. If the intent of the billboard is to catch your eye, then it did way more than that. No parent wants to go down the street and stare at that with their children in tow. It is just plain gross. Exactly what does this picture have to do with selling jeans? Nothing we didn’t already know. This isn’t going to exactly cause people to run out and buy more Calvin Klein jeans or perfume, for that matter. It’s despicable and in poor taste.

The billboard uses sex to sell Calvin Klein jeans, and it is not the first time – remember Brooke Shields, then 15 years old, saying “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing,” ad? Personally, I think this is an act of desperation on the part of Calvin Klein and his company. The Calvin Klein brand doesn’t seem as relevant today as it was in years gone by. Too much competition. I guess this comes down to raising eyebrows and getting publicity. Asked about the message in the ad, a Calvin Klein spokesman said the “intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic.” Now, that’s a scary response. So, the targeted demographics engages in three- or foursomes? Crazy

Diana Palin, Gov. Sarah Palin’s Sister-in-law, Arrested For Breaking into Home, Faces Two Felonies

palin Diana Palin, Gov. Sarah Palins Sister in law, Arrested For Breaking into Home, Faces Two FeloniesWe literally dodged a bullet when John McCain and Sarah “Hicktown Barbie” were trounced in the presidential elections last Fall.

Police say Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s sister-in-law is accused of breaking into the same home twice to steal money. The Palin clan just can’t seem to stay out of the news. Well, you may have heard that Diana Palin, Todd Palin’s half-sister, was arrested on Thursday after she was confronted by the homeowner after she allegedly broke into his home. She faces two counts of felony burglary and misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and theft.

Deputy Wasilla Police Chief Greg Wood said tire tracks and shoe prints tied Palin to another break-in Tuesday in which $400 was taken. Police have not tied Palin to another burglary at the home last week. What’s shameful is that she took her four-year old daughter with her and the child ratted her out. She doesn’t look like a 35-year old. She looks much older. Maybe that’s compliments of meth or some other drug.

All I can say is, between Levi Johnston and the Palin clan’s actions, we have indeed dodged a bullet. Picture Sarah Palin schmoozing with foreign leaders and this story broke? The governor isn’t responsible for what this woman did, but it couldn’t come at a worst time for her as she tries to position herself as the voice of the Republican Party.
