Mitt Romney demanded an apology from President Obama for his deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, dropping the “felony” comment over his name appearing on SEC documents for Bain Capital though he claimed he left in 1999. In other words, no apology forthcoming. Mitt Romney’s media blitz accomplished one thing, it showed us that he is weak and got to this place because there were no stellar Republicans seeking the presidency in this election cycle. Mitt Romney has also shown us that he isn’t up to the task of unseating the incumbent president. He literally begged his opponent to stop attacking him yesterday. Um, has he forgotten the negative campaigning he unleashed on Newt Gingrich during the primary season? As they say, karma is a bitch. Here is the response from the Obama campaign:

It should be noted that even Republicans are questioning why Mitt Romney refuses to open up his financial affairs to the American people. At the National Governors Association meeting in Williamsburg, Alabama’s Republican governor, Robert Bentley, called on Romney to release all the documents requested of him, saying, “If you have things to hide, then maybe you’re doing things wrong,” Bentley said. “I think you ought to be willing to release everything to the American people.” Veteran Republican strategist John Weaver also weighed in saying, “There is no whining in politics. Stop demanding an apology, release your tax returns.” Obama campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki said Mitt Romney “spends a lot of time asking for apologies, but spends a lot of time attacking.”

The Obama campaign also released another ad, “Firms,” slamming Mitt Romney for his offshore accounts and outsourcing, while Romney can be heard in the background singing “America the Beautiful.” The ad is running in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The ad says,”In business, Mitt Romney’s firm shipped jobs to Mexico. And China,” the text of the ad says, showing footage of foreign countries as Romney sings. “As governor, Romney outsourced jobs to India:”

Obama Campaign Video Touts Success, Unveils New 2012 Campaign Slogan “Forward”

Obama Campaign Video Touts Success, Unveils New 2012 Campaign Slogan "Forward"

The Obama campaign released anew  seven-minute long web video on Monday highlighting the president’s first term accomplishments and contrasting them with the prior administration. You know, the mess he inherited from former president George W. Bush. The new campaign slogan is “Forward.” The video doesn’t specifically name Mitt Romney as the Republican opponent, but blames its policies for the still sluggish economy.

The ad starts off by focusing on events from January 2008 onward, highlighting a downward trending timeline detailing mounting job losses, the foreclosure crisis, the stock market plunge, and the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy, with pictures of former President George W. Bush transposed beneath.

Well, lots happened under Obama’s first term in office and I will give him much deserved credit for nabbing Osama bin Laden,  ending the war in Iraq (kinda) and overthrowing Moammar Ghadhafi, but we are still trying to figure out what the heck Obamacare really means for working class Americans and dealing with a skyrocketing deficit. That doesn’t even include fixing the illegal immigration situation, though more illegals have been deported under Obama’s watch than his predecessor, but what about the DREAM Act? What’s equally worrisome is that Mitt Romney’s policies won’t be a whole lot different, since I consider him a RINO, Republican in Name Only.

Sprayberry High School Students Apologize for Offensive School Newspaper List on Why Obama Shouldn’t be Re-Elected

SPRAYBERRY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS APOLOGIZE FOR RACIST NEWSPAPER COLUMN:  Sprayberry High School is in the news because of an offensive “April Fool’s joke” that appeared in the school’s newspaper about why President Obama shouldn’t be re-elected. The issue was cover-dated April 25, 2012.

The “Top Twenty Reasons Why Obama Should Not Get Re-elected” list included statements like, “He’s black; He’s half white; He’s a Nazi; He’s a Zionist; His dog is ugly; He’s responsible for childhood obesity.”

Dillon told 11Alive’s Paul Crawley that after the large number of complaints from parents and students, the students involved in creating the list videotaped an apology that ran on the school’s morning announcements on Thursday. Dillon went on to say that the school would post a formal apology on the school’s website.

The list also includes he shouldn’t be reelected because he is “a Socialist” and a member of the “Black Panther Party.” All I can do is shake my head. Um, who is the school employee responsible for overseeing the newspaper? Are the kids allowed to independently publish whatever they want? Surely this person should have known it was offensive. The school posted this message:

Recently, the Sprayberry newspaper The Stinger published an article trying to humorously comment on the President. In regards to the Obama article, we would like to say that the article was meant as a piece of satire. The article was published in our April Fool’s section, The Zinger, of the newspaper and was meant to be a comedic take on the media’s comments on the President. Satire is the use of humor, irony or exaggeration to poke fun at certain parts of society. We realize that this did not come off as we intended, and we sincerely apologize for offending anyone.

UPDATE#1 (04/29/12): A reader sent me a tweet saying that a student has been suspended for the list and won’t be allowed to walk for graduation. I am trying to confirm that and whether or not a teacher has been fired as well. Stay tuned for updates.

Poll: Most Americans Think President Obama Would Do Better Job of Protecting Middle Class Than Mitt Romney

Washington Post-ABC News poll:  President Obama has double-digit leads over presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney on who would do a better job of protecting the middle class, handling international affairs and dealing with health care. On personal traits, Obama’s edge is even bigger:  better than 2-to-1 advantage as the more friendly and likable of the two, and nearly that margin as “more inspiring.”

On the economy and jobs “the contest is considerably more competitive, with about as many trusting Romney on the issues as Obama.” In all honesty, given Mitt Romney’s history as a business leader, he seems to understand more about getting businesses to run effectively and I would give him the edge over Obama. That may not be enough for him to win the election. There’s hope though. If George W. Bush could become president for two terms, the reality of a second Obama term is very real, whether you like him or not. Overall, Obama leads Romney 51% to 44% among registered voters.

Key finding: “Romney faces a huge deficit among female voters, one that more than negates his advantage among men and represents one of the biggest challenges he and his advisers face as they turn toward the November election. Obama’s edge among women gives him a clear lead among all registered voters in a matchup with Romney.”

Obama Campaign Releases Trailer For First Term Documentary Narrated by Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks narrates the first term documentary for the Obama Campaign, which was directed by Oscar Award winner Davis Guggenheim.  The film talks about a variety of “accomplishments,” including killing Osama bin Laden.

The Republican National Committee gave its two cents:

“The American people don’t need a movie trailer or a 17 minute documentary to know what the president accomplished over the past three years. Unfortunately Americans feel Obama’s accomplishments each and every day after President Obama led our country to higher unemployment, record debt, and higher gas prices. The question is what does another Obama term mean for America? From the promise of fewer jobs, tax increases, more debt, and the implementation of Obamacare, we literally cannot afford another four years of President Obama.” – RNC spokesperson Kirsten Kukowski

Rick Santorum Invokes Jeremiah Wright, Accuses Media of Double Standard Over Foster Friess Comments

Rick Santorum Invokes Jeremiah Wright, Accuses Media of Double Standard Over Foster Friess Comments

Rick Santorum invokes Rev. Jeremiah Wright and accuses the media of a “double standard” over the fallout from Foster Friess comments about about birth control during an appearance on MSNBC: “This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it’s so inexpensive. You know, back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraception. “The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn’t that costly.” Foster Friess has since apologized for his ill-advised “joke.”

Rick Santorum accused the media of defending President Obama for comments his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, made from the pulpit.

The Hill:  “Santorum was reacting to criticism of comments Thursday by Forster Friess, who made ill-advised remarks about birth control. He said he shouldn’t be held accountable for every comment by one of his supporters, and said the media were playing “gotcha politics.”

“Santorum admitted that “it was a bad joke — it was a stupid joke,” but maintained that it was not “reflective of me or my record on this issue.” Friess is the largest donor to the super-PAC supporting Santorum’s candidacy.”

Well, that comment and his handling in the aftermath could be the kiss of death for his presidential aspirations if he doesn’t get in front of the controversy. Pointing fingers at then-candidate Barack Obama’s handling of the Jeremiah Wright scandal won’t serve him well. In fact, he comes across as pretty petty and childish. Um, Rick Santorum, Jeremiah Wright is so 2008. Come with something else. Just saying….

Harris Poll: Majority of Americans Believe President Obama Trying to Put Country Back on Track

Official photographic portrait of US President...

Harris Poll: Majority of Americans Believe President Obama Trying to Put Country Back on Track (Wikipedia)

Harris Poll: “As President Obama starts his fourth year in office, people have many opinions of the job he has done so far and these opinions have changed over the past three years. In looking at fourteen different statements there are three that have changed fairly substantially over time. In 2010, almost three in five Americans (57%) said President Obama made other countries feel better about the United States. That number dropped to 50% last year and is now even lower, at 43% this year.”

“Looking at some of the more positive statements, each shows a decline in the number of Americans who agree. While majorities believe that the President is trying to put the country back on track (57%), trying to bring about much needed change (54%) and is open, honest and trustworthy (50%), two years ago, in 2010 between 54% and 61% agreed with each statement and in 2011 between 53% and 59% agreed.”

GA Secretary of State Brian Kemp Dismisses Birther Challenge Against President Obama

NEWSFLASH: Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp dismisses birther challenge, says President Barack Obama meets the state’s eligibility requirements to be on the ballot in the March presidential primary. That’s a slap in the faces of the Georgia birther crowd.

Is President Barack Obama a Hypocrite for Giving Blessing to Super PAC, Priorities USA Action?

Is President Barack Obama a Hypocrite for Giving Blessing to Super PAC, Priorities USA Action?

President Barack Obama, hypocrisy or necessity in giving blessings to Super PAC, Priorities USA Action?

Politico: “President Barack Obama  has reversed course and is now blessing the efforts of a sputtering super PAC, Priorities USA Action, organized to fight GOP dark-money attacks.

On Monday morning, Obama reviled the “negative” tone of the super PACs, a dominant fundraising source in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision. But by the evening, word leaked to POLITICO that Obama had offered his support for Priorities USA Action, which thus far has raised a fraction of what GOP-backed groups have raked in.”

All politicians who hide behind Super PACs are a bunch of hypocrites. That includes President Obama. Yes, I said.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Compares President Obama to Costa Concordia Captain Francesco Schettino

The Republican Party continues to disrespect President Obama. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus compared President Obama to Francesco Schettino, the Costa Concordia cruise ship captain who took off in a lifeboat after his ship ran aground at Isola del Giglio, off the coast of Tuscany earlier this month. You will recall Francesco Schettino is facing multiple counts of manslaughter for abandoning the cruise ship in which 17 are dead and dozens still missing.

“In a few months, this is all going to be ancient history and we are going to talk about our own little Captain Schettino, which is President Obama who is abandoning the ship here in the United States and is more interested in campaigning than doing his job as president,” Priebus said in response to a question about the vitriolic GOP primary

The deaths of these innocent passengers shouldn’t be trivialized by political games. Reince Priebus owes the families of the decedents and President Obama an apology. Sorry, but Reince Priebus isn’t a step-up from former RNC chairman Michael Steele.
