This seems to be a problem of growing and alarming intensity in the Chicago area. Another youth has been shot. According to media reports, the 15-year-old boy who has been tentatively identified by the Chicago SunTimes as Eric Reed, “took a turn for the worse” after being shot Tuesday night in the South Side’s Calumet Heights neighborhood. The shooting occurred about 9:05 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Exchange Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Henry said. The teen was shot in the stomach as he stood in the street, officials said.

Media reports have said that initially, the boy, 15, was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in “stable” condition, but later “took a turn for the worse,” South Chicago District police said at 1 a.m. Wednesday. The police has said that no-one is in custody at this time.

Surely if these neighborhoods were in the wealthy suburbs, the wrath of the city would be on the shoulders of the criminals. Yes, black-on-black crime is becoming a real problem, but innocent lives are being lost. We just cannot turn a blind eye to what is going on. I appeal for intervention from these so-called leaders and the government. Just my thoughts, you be the judge……
