Teen Questioned in Murder of Off-Duty Chicago Police Officer Hester Scott

A 15 year old teen is being questioned in the murder of off-duty Chicago police officer Hester Scott, whose body was found Friday morning in the basement of her home in the 8800 block of South Wallace Street. The teen being questioned is thought to be her grandson.  According to NBC Chicago, Scott was killed shortly before noon and investigators said they found an open door when they entered the home.

Officer Scott¬†reportedly served on the force for close to 25 years and was thinking of retirement soon. Police have said Scott was killed in a “domestic dispute” in her home. It’s a sad commentary that she wasn’t killed on the street or in the line of duty, but in her own home, where she was supposed to be safe. She was raising her grandkids because her daughter reportedly had “issues.” It is a sad commentary that a 15 year old is a cop killer and may never get a long sentence for such heinous acts because of his age. He should be charged as an adult.
