BREAKING NEWS:  Three officers were shot early Thursday morning in California, two in Riverside and one in Corona. The Riverside Police Department said one of its officers was killed. Initial reports said the shootings could be connected to former LAPD officer Christopher Jordan Dorner, who was wanted in connection with the double murder of Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence in Irvine.

Police said two Riverside officers responded to Magnolia and Arlington avenues (map) at about 1:30 a.m. after receiving a call for assistance. The response occurred during the search that began with a report of a vehicle matching the description of ex-LAPD Officer Christopher Dorner.

Both Riverside officers were shot and transported to a hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The second officer remained in surgery, police said. Source
