Weekend Gun Violence:  Dawnn Jaffier, 26, was shot and killed while marching in the Jouvert parade for the annual Caribbean Carnival in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston.

Police say, Jaffier, who was shot in the head, was standing on the side of the parade at some point, when the suspect walked up and shot her in the head, and also wounded another woman in the leg.

Police spokeswoman Rachel McGuire said officers who responded to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. found Dawnn Jaffier suffering from gunshot wounds near Charlotte and Blue Hill Avenues. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police say both Dawn Jaffier and the other shooting victim were innocent bystanders.

Keith Williams, 18, of Dorchester was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting, WCVB reports.

Dawnn Jaffier graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She also coached at the Boys & Girls Club.
