Report: St. Louis County Police to Be Taken Off Duty Amid Ferguson Protests

BREAKING: Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, who will announce St. Louis County police taken off duty but he has not specified who will take over policing. There is overwhelming evidence of misconduct. Two journalists were assaulted and arrested. Many tear-gassed and hit with rubber bullets.

News 4’s Russell Kinsaul reports US Senator Claire McCaskill made those remarks just moments ago. During a statement Thursday, Nixon said he is prepared to make “operational shifts” in Ferguson. News 4 saw a Missouri Highway Patrol mobile command center setting up in Ferguson, near the St. Louis County command post. Source: KMOV

President Obama has asked the Department of Justice and the FBI to investigate the murder of Michael Brown. He said the police should not be “bullying and arresting’ reporters, as we saw last night when Ryan Reilly, with Huffington Post, and Wesley Lowery, with the Washington Post, were arrested, while doing their jobs.
