Chicago Public Schools employee Shelby Crawford, 18, is being held on $900,000 bond for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old girl near the Foundations College Prep on Friday.

Crawford was hired to help students during arrival and dismissal at the school, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The girl, who has not been identified, was shot in the chest about 4:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of West 111th Street, the police said. She is currently listed in serious condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Shelby Crawford is currently on probation for a juvenile gun case. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated battery with a firearm and not having a FOID card, police said.
