Gwenevere McCord shot by Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill

Gwenevere McCord has been identified as the realtor in critical condition after being shot in the stomach by Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill.

Gwinnett County detectives are waiting to speaking with Hill, but it seems that he clammed up.

Hill called 911 at 5:39 p.m. Sunday to report the shooting inside a model home in the Park Haven subdivision in Lawrenceville. He and Gwenevere McCord were the only people inside the home when the shooting occurred.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said, “There were a number of items of evidence, but there were at least two weapons.”

Porter said in “Hill’s 911 call, he said there had been an accidental shooting while he was practicing “police tactics,” the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. Porter said “Hill could face charges related to reckless conduct. If McCord does not survive her injuries, he said, Hill could face felony involuntary manslaughter charges,” the newspaper reports.

Gwenevere McCord was a licensed realtor and worked with Paran Homes, the builder of the homes in the subdivision.

The relationship between Hill and McCord is not clear, but neighbors say he visited her often. It’s very suspect that Hill is not cooperating with the police. His silence is deafening and will fuel public sentiment that he did something wrong.

As of Tuesday morning, Sheriff Victor Hill has not spoken to Gwinnett police on his “accidental” shooting of Gwenevere McCord.  Danny Porter said under Georgia law, “a sitting sheriff cannot be charged except by a warrant issued by a Superior Court judge,” during an interview with AM750 and 95.5 FM News/Talk WSB.

UPDATE (05/06/15 10:00 PM): Sheriff Victor Hill has been booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on a misdemeanor reckless conduct charge for shooting Gwenevere McCord.

UPDATE (05/05/15 6:04 PM): Victor Hill finally issued a statement on the Gwenevere McCord shooting:

“As reported, on May 3, 2015, I was involved in a tragic and heartbreaking accident. Gwenevere McCord, who is very dear to me, was critically injured in this accident. Please understand that for the past 48 hours, I have been entirely focused on Gwenevere and her family. I will continue to pray unceasingly for her recovery.
