Donald Trump gives Americans the middle finger as the Senate Trumpcare bill failed spectacularly: “Let Obamacare fail….I’m not going to own it.” In other words, he doesn’t care that Americans, including some of his supporters, will be adversely impacted by allowing the Affordable Care Act to fail.
Um, so much for “Make America Great Again.”
During an impromptu press briefing during Trump’s lunch with Vice President Mike Pence, National Security Advisor H. R. McMaster, and others, he expressed his “disappointment” about healthcare.
Trump said, “Let Obamacare fail, it will be a lot easier. And I think we’re probably in that position where we’ll just let Obamacare fail. We’re not going to own it. I’m not going to own it. I can tell you the Republicans are not going to own it. We’ll let Obamacare fail and then the Democrats are going to come to us.”
Um, that’s not how this works — the Republicans control the House, Senate and the White House. They have been threatening to repeal and replace Obamacare for seven years. The only plan they could come up with was one that will leave millions without coverage. Democrats won’t get blamed. That I can tell you. They also won’t go grovelling to Donald Trump. Has he seen his approval rating? It’s pretty shitty, therefore, he scares no-one.
So much for Trump’s leadership. He once tweeted: “Leadership: Whatever happens, you’re responsibile. If it doesn’t happen, you’re responsible.”

Trump seems to have decided that Obamacare will remain the law of the land. By the way, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s straight repeal plan has collapsed too, with three senators — Susan Collins (R-ME), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) “immediately declared they could not vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement — enough to doom the effort before it could get any momentum,” the New York Times reports.
