Sarah Huckabee Sanders finally tells the truth and it’s just as embarrassing as her lies — Donald Trump allowed China to dictate press freedom by not taking questions from reporters at their joint press event.
Trump’s Asia toured has been one embarrassment after the next — from the failed trip to Korea’s Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), to asking Japanese automakers to manufacture vehicles in the U.S. instead of shipping them (they already do), to remarking that he didn’t know there were so many countries in the world.
When pressed on why Trump declined to take questions from reporters, Huckabee Sanders blamed it all on China, saying, “It was at the Chinese insistence there were no questions today.”

This isn’t sitting well with many journalists who blasted the move on social media. Personally, I believe this is a disgrace, but as Hillary Clinton said to Donald Trump’s face during a presidential debate, he talked tough about Mexico paying for the wall, but choked when he met with President Enrique Pena Nieto.
In 2016, Trump said “We can’t continue to allow China to rape our country, and that’s what they’re doing.” Um, in 2017, during his trip to China, he said, “I don’t blame China for taking advantage of another country.” He also didn’t call them “currency manipulators” to their face as he ranted during the presidential campaign. He chokes over and over and over again.
By the way, here’s what Trump said about President Obama and China in 2012: “Have you heard? China just told Obama to jump. Obama asked how high.”

Ever the master of projection…that’s exactly what he did on his trip — jumped really high for China.
Trump today: U.S.-China trade relationship is unfair “but I don’t blame China.”

Trump is also leaving China with very little to show for all his tough talk. The $250 billion trade deal is as phony as they come.
Reaction on Twitter:
China isn’t supposed to have a say about press access. Previous press secs used to fight with Chinese counterparts for press access when in China. Witnessed personally. https://t.co/IWMgOoy7ZB

I once had to tell Chinese officials that Pres. Obama would not show up for the press avail unless there would be a Q&A. They backed down. https://t.co/Z2LdwSYK9k

Trump pledged to turn around and leave China if they didn’t have a staircase for him to get off AF1.
But he buckles instantaneously when they insist on no press questions
