Police have taken a teacher at Dalton High School into custody after responding to reports of “shots fired” inside the Georgia school.
The teacher was reportedly barricaded and no students were in danger, though the school is on lockdown.
@nra my favorite teacher at Dalton high school just blockaded his door and proceeded to shoot. We had to run out The back of the school in the rain. Students were being trampled and screaming. I dare you to tell me arming teachers will make us safe.

Um, so another teacher with a gun would have stopped this teacher from firing his or her gun? Donald Trump and the National Rifle Association have suggested placing armed teachers in schools. What could go wrong? Wait, it just did.
UPDATE: The teacher is in custody.

Twitter responded as you would expect:
I’m a Dalton High School student. Please don’t tell me a damn thing about arming teachers. Please don’t tell me that I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.

Thank god no one was injured when a teacher barricaded himself in a room with a gun at Dalton High School.
You literally couldn't write a better script though to make Trump's plan to arm teachers look idiotic.
What next, Mr President? Should we arm "gun adept" students?

Today, with a "shots fired" report at Dalton High School and a teacher barricaded inside a classroom, how would it have gone down if multiple teachers had been armed? How would the cops know WHICH armed teacher was the "bad" one? @WhiteHouse

shots were fired at dalton high school today. by a teacher. if you still believe teachers should be armed, you truly do not care about students’ well being

Shots were fired today at Dalton High School in Dalton, Georgia. No one was hurt, and the school was evacuated. The suspect barricaded himself in a room before being arrested. He was a teacher. Can we stop talking about arming teachers and bringing more guns into schools?

Don't tell me no students are in danger at Dalton high school, Georgia. Their lives are forever changed. They will never feel safe again. Especially since it was a teacher with the gun.
