Donald Trump throws Michael Cohen under a bus by claiming ignorance about Stormy Daniels payment. Ooopsie. I’m guessing Trump spoke without thinking, like he always does.
Trump is literally putting the full weight of the scandal on Cohen’s shoulders, which could cost him his law license. The admission also shows that the $130,000 payment was really an in-kind campaign gift to Trump. In other words, it’s a campaign finance violation issue.
Trump literally gave Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, and her lawyer Michael Avenatti a heckuva gift. Avenatti told Ari Melber on The Beat, this is a “Merry Christmas.” Trump seems to have lost his right to arbitrate. In other words, Stormy Daniels wins this round by a knock-out. Only Trump knocked himself out.
Avenatti tweeted: “We very much look forward to testing the truthfulness of Mr. Trump’s feigned lack of knowledge of the $130K payment as stated on Air Force One. As history teaches us, it is one thing to deceive the press and quite another to do so under oath.”
