Michael Avenatti says the Democrats claim that he under their case against Brett Kavanaugh is “complete garbage,” because it was a “circus before his client came along.” No. Not true. I believe he made it a much bigger circus because he was all over the media pushing Julie Swetnick’s claims, some of which she already walked back.

Avenatti tweeted: “Complete garbage. It was a circus long before my client appeared. And the Rs were using the same arguments against Ford and Ramirez before my client surfaced. If any Dems feel this way then they should go on the record as opposed to anonymous nonsense. And Garland?”

CNN  reports, Democrats felt they had Kavanaugh “against the ropes,” but then Avenatti entered the fray. He was successful with the Stormy Daniels case, but this was different because no money changed hands. It was a he said-she said situation of a far greater proportion than Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez’s accusations.

“The combative lawyer… revealed a stunning new allegation: A woman, Julie Swetnick, said she had witnessed the Supreme Court nominee attending more than 10 house parties… She also alleged that at some parties, boys lined up by a bedroom to ‘gang-rape’ incapacitated girls and claimed those in the lineup included Kavanaugh and Judge.”

“But the eye-popping nature of those claims suddenly gave Republicans an opportunity to shift the narrative away from Ford’s allegations and make a broader case that the growing accusations of sexual misconduct amounted to an orchestrated Democratic smear campaign, something Sen. Susan Collins, the swing GOP vote, cited herself when announcing she’d be the decisive vote to support Kavanaugh’s confirmation.” Source: CNN

There wasn’t much the Democrats could have done to derail Kavanaugh’s confirmation because the math wasn’t on their side. Furthermore, one of the three people Julie Swetnick said could corroborate her claims is dead. Then Avenatti released a sworn testimony of another person he claims could back up claims against Kavanaugh, but he blacked out the name. People hiding behind anonymous claims are always very suspect.
