Lara Trump sparks backlash over her comments that the Trump shutdown is “unfair” to furloughed workers, but it “is so much bigger than any one person.” That’s spoken like a person who doesn’t worry about where her next meal is coming from or how she will pay her bills.
“We get that this is unfair to you, but this is so much bigger than any one person. It is a little bit of pain, but it’s going to be for the future of our country and their children and their grandchildren and generations after that will thank them for their sacrifice right now,” Newsweek reports.
This sounds like something her father-in-law, Donald Trump, would say. In fact, he said the furloughed workers were “patriots” and agreed with him holding them hostage over an imaginary border wall.
Of course, Twitter put her on blast:
If Lara Trump would like to pay my furloughed wife’s $600/month law school loans, our $2,100/month rent, or our $1,350/month day care bill, my email address is in my bio. https://t.co/4t6dtzYEck

LARA TRUMP: I know this shutdown is a bit of a pain for you Federal Workers, but it's an important sacrifice. Like the time Eric and I couldn't paint the bowling alley in our Montauk house because the wind was blowing the fumes back into our ostrich pen.

Yes Lara Trump:
It's a bit of a pain getting evicted, declaring bankruptcy, waiting in food bank lines to feed your kids, paying fees & interest instead of being paid, & skipping insulin or medication.
All true of federal workers who should be getting paid instead.

Donald Trump’s wealthy daughter-in-law and campaign adviser Lara Trump tells 800,000 struggling federal employees who are working without paying that it’s just “a little bit of pain” for them but “this is so much bigger than any one person.” #TrumpShutdown https://t.co/9O8lzjflMt
