Former acting FBI director Andrew McCabe admitted during a 60 Minutes interview that the Justice Department discussed using the 25th Amendment to remove Donald Trump from office.

McCabe, who is promoting his new book The Threat, said Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered on multiple occasions to wear a wire around Trump.

McCabe told Scott Pelley during the 60 Minutes interview, that they wrestled with “what to do” with Trump during the eight days between James Comey’s firing and the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller.

“There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment,” Pelley said during an appearance on CBS This Morning to promote the interview.

“And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what to do with the president.”

Rod Rosenstein is denying McCabe’s claims that he offered to wear a wire and talk of invoking the 25th Amendment to get rid of Trump:
