Rep. Brenda Lawrence shames Mark Meadows (R-NC) after he trotted out wedding planner-turned HUD official Lynne Patton to show that Donald Trump isn’t a racist because he hired a black woman.
“To prop up one member of our entire race of black people, and say that that nullifies that is totally insulting,” Rep. Lawrence said.
Patton briefly sat behind Meadows during Michael Cohen’s public testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.
“I just want to put on the record, as being a black American and having endured the public comments of racism from the sitting president, as being a black person, I can only imagine what’s being said in private,” Lawrence added.
